CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Legendary performer Stevie Wonder this morning expressed his love for Cleveland during a get-out-the-vote rally at Cleveland State University.
His love went largely unrequited.
Fewer than 200 people showed up to watch Wonder perform a handful of his hits at the early voting event in support of President Barack Obama.

The current college crowd probably has NO idea who Stevie Wonder is.

Like I’ve said before on FR ... anything that reminds people of Obama’s “black half” is being supressed as much as possible by his campaign. This includes his own wife, by the way.

The full article is definitely worth reading. A keeper. Nobody went to vote after the concert. Nobody. Not even with a shuttle bus ready and waiting to take them.

Love “I Wish,” one of the best songs ever, but then he’s the same guy who did “I just called to say I love you” and “Ribbon in the sky.” It would be hard to sit through a concert of his considering he is so hit and miss with me.

I was down there today (working). I wandered over at about 10:30 and there were about 15 people waiting for the show to start. When I went back at about 11:30, Wonder was singing “I Wish” for about 50 people. No way were there 200 people. This was a couple of blocks away from the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections where early voting was going on.

LOL...is Ohio really lost for Romney? He and Ryan are pulling in enormous crowds across Ohio. Meanwhile, Bambi gets 4,000 today in Cleveland whereas four years ago he got 80,000. And only 200 curious passersby show up at a Stevie Wonder GOTV “rally.”
The tingle is really gone.

My uncle who went to U2 at Red Rocks many years ago (yes, that album) told me it is hard to fill up Red Rocks. I saw the Denver Post vid story and it was incredible how it was standing room only.

I don’t appreciate his politics, but I do appreciate the artist and the music of my school years. The crowd was more a reflection on Obama than Stevie.
It is very difficult to seperate the partisan spin out of the media coverage and their polling. We are so immersed in it that it often becomes difficult to believe your own eyes when you see the crowd sizes and enthusiasm gap.
I am cautiously optimistic.

Dearest Barry,
I Just Called To Say I Love You.
You know, other than because they tell me youre black,
I Don’t Know Why (I Love You)
But
Lately
I have to Wonder if you really care for this country, or youre just a
Part Time Lover.
At one time, I thought
You and I (We Can Conquer the World)
But maybe you aimed a bit
Too High
there. If you really look at it, could it be that
You Haven’t Done Nothin’ ?
Or is that just a nasty
Superstition
put out by the Right-wing Media? I guess I have some trouble seeing the truth
Anyway, as always I wish you all the best!
Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours
-Stevie
