Fresh off his "climate disruption"-driven endorsement of President Obama, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has chosen to divert critical food supplies and power generators from desperate residents of Staten Island to Sunday's New York City Marathon...

The 99% can go take a hike.
We’ve got a marathon to service.
Here’s the Left’s 1%. Thanks, Bloomie - and no wonder you endorsed Obama!
HAHAHAHA!!!
The people of NYC get the government they deserve. They always vote for the most left leaning idiots, so, there ya go......
I could not believe it several days ago when I was told the marathon would not be cancelled.
Besides all the points raised in the article, every single hotel room in NYC is booked. Those rooms should be available to the people who are suffering in the dark, especially those with ailing elderly people in their family.
I wish I had been handed one of those petitions. There’s a word for what Bloomberg is. It begins with a five-pointed symbol for celebrity and ends with an obscenity.
The feudal lord has spoken. Chit wouldn’t fly where I live.
the eletist strikes again
Wait a minute! Wait a minute! Isn’t it suppose to be BREAD and circuses? Where’s the BREAD MAN??
Personify;
I'm homeless, cold, hungry and with various other souls to care for (maybe some are dead?), and I learn MY rescue supply is diverted for a game ???
If I can't rally my neighbors, I'm counting life as not worth that much and risking it to cause some major havoc.
And just FYI in 2008 Staten Island went for McCain/Palin and has a Republican Borough President. Bloomberg is really hurting people in need who aren't as liberal as he is for a damn race.
Youre right, this is not at all funny. People are cold, hungry and desperate and this blooming asshat takes the only lifeline, not to mention the police resources, to make a race happen. I’d love a list of companies sponsoring this event.
The Hunger Games
Put this on twitter and watch the marathoners learn to run Really fast when they’re mobbed.
There’s something wrong with Bloomberg and I can’t imagine any marathoner wanting their name associated with the depravity.
Obama doesn't have to care.
But Katrina was Bush's fault, because he hated black people is what we were told.
And I believe Staten Island has a much larger population then all of New Orleans, and there are so many other areas in other parts of NY— on LI, Nassau county and Jersey that need help.
Obama and Bloomberg hate white people! It's the only logical conclusion.
Who said this was funny? I’m not talking about Staten Island - but NYC and Bloomberg. I guess they did elect Rudy though. I’d lay odds that Rudy wouldn’t have diverted the food and generators for a marathon.
Good observation.
Any chance of re-electing Giuliani?
Re: Any chance of re-electing Giuliani?
He may run again. At least he’s been hinting at it recently.

Any runner who participates in this travesty is sub human (like Bloomberg) and should be shunned by all decent members of society. There could well be riots and attacks on the runners on Sunday. Bloomberg and the runners are spitting in the faces of the millions of area residents who are without power, heat, gas and in some cases homes. Bloomberg is the most vile politician in America by a wide margin, even over Obama and Pelosi.

This is what happens when you elect liberals to office so I feel no sorrow for New Yorkers suffering, next time maybe they will vote correctly as pain, cold, hunger is a great motivator...
WRONG GUESS.
Rudy was on FOX last night and praised nanny blommy for letting the marathon go on.
Talk about tone deaf ... !!!!!!
To go one with the circus when tens of thousands are growing desperate for fuel, transportation, food
I bet Bloomies mansions have power and water, too
and armed guards of course
I don’t see any problem, bloomingass is nice and warm, has plenty of food, is nice and dry, has plenty of gas and is not suffering one tiny bit.
There is really, really, really something wrong with this man, how can he make such stupid decisions?
Oh wait, he is buddies with mac daddy, the leading moron, that explains it all.
There’s an article at my local paper’s website saying that some runners from here have decided not to go to New York because they think it’s tacky. According to the article, Bloomberg says “the show must go on” because businesses are counting on the attendees for sales, rentals, etc.
(I rarely look at the local Communist media, but I was looking for information on a major traffic jam yesterday. Nothing mentioned ...)
On Sunday, Fox should run parallel coverage of the marathon and people struggling to fix the aftermath of Sandy. All day.
I should think that Bloomberg is toast after this blunder.
Add in Nanny Bloomberg's "global warming" endorsement of Obama, the turning away of non-union utility help, the argument over whether "cash only" charities of their own choosing are welcome, the "we only want the NYPD having guns" dismissal of National Guard help and similar glimpses from the past few days, and this dumb, pig-slopping, flyover country rube is a bit disillusioned. I reckon I'm just too gol-derned ignorant to understand the subtle nuances of the East Coast ruling class.
We have a few worthless politicians and personalities out here that are persistent as ticks (and just as pleasant), but you FReepers and like-minded people who live in NYC and the surrounding areas bear some crosses beyond all enduring.
Mr. niteowl77
Yup. At least most of them.
This dovetails nicely with the electrical repair crews from Alabama being told to “stand down” in New Jersey because they were non-union.
A star foock?
Someone ought to run against him in a Big Gulp Of Freedom party.
Yup
That was is all scheduled to be tweeted:

If they need the generators for a stupid race, then they ought to call the stupid race OFF, or postpone it.
Nice...the marathon starts on the Staten Island side of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. There should be protests.
Thousands of hungry and angry NYCers might just block the marathon route, especially at the beginning on Staten Island. That would be huge.
Bloomberg’s people would have thought of this and will be diverting huge amounts of police to control the crowds for the marathon. This won’t end well.
Time to divert Loonie Bloomie from the Mayor’s Mansion.....
Run Rudy RUN!!!!!!!!!
LLS
Bloomberg KNOWS that the ONE is to use the old March Madness saying is “one and DONE.”
Look for the police to quit en masse out of protest to Bloomberg.
Bloomie thinks the Marathon will bolster New Yorkers’ flagging spirits and therefore is as vital as food and fuel.
Here’s an idea: Everyone who wants to run in the marathon must bring a donation of a box of food and a blanket. Maybe toss in bottled water too.
That way the marathon could serve some useful purpose.
Oh goody! a marathon!
It’s so nice of bloomberg to bring in entertainment for all those who do not have electricity, are homeless.
Will those marathoners be distributing food to the people?
It’s a good thing police will be there because the runners may be mugged for their water.
I wonder how many people will change their minds at the last minute and vote for Romney?
Since liberals like protesters so much, I’m sure Bloomberg would love it if a few thousand people blocked the route at several points with a mass protests. Think of the mess and liability there would be for the organization that profits from this race.
Bloomberg makes an in drag Giuliani look like Ronald Reagan.
Doesn't seem like much considering the entry fee is hundreds..or..thousands...of dollars? Anyone know? It is not a matter of a few dollars.
