Mitt Romney Won the Second Debate
U.S. News & World Report ^ | October 17, 2012 | Peter Roff

Posted on 10/17/2012 8:14:45 AM PDT by ConservativeStatement

Having had a night's sleep to reflect on things, Tuesday night's debate between President Barack Obama and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is starting to feel more like the challenger scored a narrow victory.

The instant analysis, which I helped provide as part of the U.S. News & World Report opinion team's live blogging of the event, lends itself to snap judgments made in the heat of the moment. What matters more is what people remember the next day, even as everything both candidates said and everything both candidates did is analyzed to death.

“Romney up 2 to zero”

Cute. I see what you did there.

America caught a glimpse of Obama's rage, insolence, petulance, disgust, arrogance and downright lies last night. I suspect today they will reflect and sum up with a, "I don't like Obama" feeling. He had the attitude of, "How dare you disagree with me." Dare I say the chin up Mussoliniesque demeanor?

This will not set well with the general public, ala Luntz' focus group's comments. If anything, the debate will help Romney in the polls. . plus Romney was his usual focused articulate self with a command of the facts and his five point plan.

No matter what the outcome, no one on the side of Obama and the MSM will even hint that Obama may have been edged out last night in debate two. He got so slammed in the first one they simply cannot admit that he was anything but stellar.

the voters remember that bias and now want to know the real Libya story.

That's the real BIG STORY now, the one that has been hidden from the Undecideds, the Story that HAS not been told on the Front Pages or evening news.

NOW, they want to know what is this all about. When they find out, they will be pissed off big time at being lied to some more.

Romney won that debate, hands down. On the facts, as well as composure and dignity.

I don’t understand why there is no talk about what the women voters think. Why drop that topic?

Anyway, I thought Obama sound strident and loud. He made me uncomfortable.

Mitt was calm.

I suspect that in the foreign policy debate we will hear almost as much from the moderator as from the candidates. That third moderator will have his hands full complying with orders from above to decisively resuscitate the kenyan and flummox the romney.

The stupid Obama mainstream media bubble will burst in 20 days.

It will be glorious. Heh.

In a sense he "cares about the middle class" but he doesn't carefor the middle class. A middle class is a hindrance to the total state and he cares about that. He wants the middle class gone, preferably into the newly expanding proletariat class. The main portion of the Middle Class is people who work for themselves and who own or manage small businesses. It is easier to tax and control a few huge Corporations than it is to control many small businesses and it is easier to control the employees of a few huge corporations, especially when they have little or no choice in where they work.

Listening to Rush and he is expressing what I felt last night while watching this. There is no way Obama “won” this, he merely showed-up.

“Anyone who thinks the ghastly, deer-eyed, robotic display by bam last night, with a pocket full of platitudes and nicotine patches under his shirt was a “win” is smoking something.”

I don’t see how anyone considers this an Obama win when he made a HUGE GAFFE in talking about gas prices. Claiming gas prices were low because of the poor economy in 2008 is demonstrably false and shows how out of touch with reality he is. I hope that line gets made into a Romney ad.

I think the Luntz focus group got it right. Romney crushed Obama. Romney is going to open the next debate by pointing out that Obama lied about the press conference and that if lied about something so easy to check, what wouldn’t he lie about.

“Romney set Obama up on the Libya charade, whether purposeful or not. On Monday, Romney can use the fraud Obama and Crowley perpetrated in the debate to shame the President for his dishonesty, and not being straight with the Amreican people, about Libya and foreign affairs generally.”

I thought Romney was weak and hesitant on Libya which was surprizing to me considering how important an issue it is. However the debate showed how Obama will argue the issue so Rom will be better prepared next time.

That's going to be half of the victory party. Someone ought to make a DVD of the various MSM comments after the election is 'called.' Chrissy crying, Steponallofus gesticulating gibberish, Maddow ?

Romney did not lose the debate. Obama’s standard level set from the first debate did not need much to exceed.
But Romney left so much on the table. Fast and Furious during gun control, Obama’s own administration pays the women in the WH less than their male counterparts, and on and on....
He needs to be able to make his points in more concise terms.

He apparently wasn't expecting and was taken aback by the partisanship of the host. After Lehrer he let his guard down. He should not have. After the first debate he and his handlers should have known and expected worse than what they got from Crowley. After all, Crowley has a history that should was sending up flares and they must have known that the MSM employers of the Host wold lean hard on the host to perform for the kenyan and the Democrats would do the same.
