“Is this any way to honor a young man that gave his life for his country?”

Filed Fri, Aug 31, 2012 by Jamie Nash

Willis resident Tom Logan is angry with President Obama and his administration, and he wants things to change. Logan’s anger has nothing to do with the Republican Convention, the economy, or any of the other issues on the evening news. Tom Logan is angry because of what he and many others consider an unconscionable lack of respect shown to his family following the death of his son who died serving his country in the Marine Corps.

Cpl. Joseph D. “Joey” Logan was one of six marines killed January 19 when their Vietnam era CH-53D Sea Stallion heavy-lift helicopter crashed without warning while supporting combat operations in the Helmand province in the mountains of Afghanistan. Joey Logan was scheduled to wrap up his deployment and return home just over two months later, where he planned to reenlist and remain stateside. It was also supposed to be the last mission for the aircraft that was older than any of its crew. But Tom Logan and his wife Debi are not angry about where Joey died or why he was there. They are proud they raised a son who was such a patriot and offered the ultimate sacrifice for his country. In fact, both Tom and Debi served in the United States Air Force and they have two other children who remain in the military and Tom says his middle child’s death has not made him wish the other two had chosen different paths.

This is a two part article.

The parents of the fallen Marine are very upset that Obama chose to send duplicate 'form' condolence letters to the families of this Marine and fellow Marines with delivery by UPS.

What a disgraceful way to treat the families of the fallen who were sent in harms way by Obama.

Somebody tell me that a ranking officer (Colonel or better) directly and immediately visits the parents and spouses.

The President is a friggin’ idiot, and everyone knows it. But if the ONLY thanks the family gets from the Whitehouse is a form letter, then that’s normal for a guy who totally disrespects the military.

Bush quietly called and met with families of fallen heroes... and he hid it from the press. obamao shows his disdain of the good by the evil that he does to them.

The USMC always, ALWAYS, does personal casualty calls. The have back-up CAOs for the back-ups for the back-ups. This is something that has always been important to the USMC family.

Do not bother the Great Obama with these trifles about fallen US soldiers! The Great Obama is busy dealing with important matters at the golf course! Go away!

Mark Levin is discussing this at this moment.

According to the article at the link, the Marine Corps went above and beyond, with the first of many letters from high ranking officials dated the day of the Marines death.

That is generally the way it’s done. Not sure if its a Col. But an officer and a clergy go to the home as soon as possible.

I know the letter from the President is a form letter, but he could at least sign them. My God, there are not that many. He could do it between bong hits.

He probably considers them to be just a bunch of capitalist bitter-clingers and suckers anyway.

I apologize. A CAO is a Casualty Assistance Officer.

I am in Virginia, I support Allen (not really but..) for the US Senate.

They (Allen) are currently running an ad (which in some ways I find, if not distasteful, at the very least, in poor taste).

It is a women who is lamenting the loss of her son - KIA - and mentioning she was away from home and returned and ‘The Marines, were in my front yard’ and she goes on to say how she met George Allen, eventually gave him her sons dog tags and now is supporting him.

I really think I would have been ‘upset’ if Kaine would have run it, maybe if Webb had used it I wouldn’t feel like the pol is ‘exploiting’ the lady and her son.

The one person who treated Marine Cpl. Joseph D. Logan’s death as though it were insignificant, ignoring it for five months before mailing a form letter with what appears to be an electronic signature to Tom and Debi Logan was the United States commander-in-chief, President Barack Hussein Obama.

That is simply unconscionable!! George W. Bush hand wrote a letter to the families of every single soldier, Marine, or airman killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. That is one thing that weighed heavily on him; sending people into battle, and he took his job of Commander in Chief seriously.

Obama is an absolute disgrace!

Last year when rapper Heavy D died, Obama sent a personal note that he asked Al Sharpton to read at the funeral.
