Needless to say, the Democrats and the worthies at The New York Times are desperate to change the subject.

They need to have somebody to beat up on, and Mitt Romney has proven to be a bit of a porcupine. The more they beat on him, the worse it is for them.

They need a punching bag like Todd Akin. It frustrates them no end that the GOP has successfully distanced itself from Akin, so this line of attack is closed off to them.

Unless they can jump-start The War on Women or some other distracting theme, Barack Obama and the rest of the Democratic Party are going to go down in flames.

Heck, if the blowout is big enough, the coat-tails will probably be enough to drag even Todd Akin over the line. That is the only way he is going to win, anyway.

Akin must be dragged over the finish line if we intend to ever take the senate back from weed, er reid.

Despite my belief that Akin should have done the right thing and dropped out, it is hard to ignore McCaskill’s enormous vulnerability.

I would like to inject some money ASAP into this contest, but worry that a direct donation to Akin’s campaign might not be the best destination. Is there is a PAC supportive of Akin that shows more acumen than Akin himself?

.

- President Obama - I keep hearing your surrogates on TV insisting that “your budget” will fix the terrible economic mess and high level of unemployment that America is still in now; but if that is really true - why have you not been able to get even one Democrat in Congress to vote for any of your proposed budget or budgets - not one single Democrat would vote for your budget.

I just don’t understand this.

Could you please explain this to the voters tonight?

.

- Polish it up Mitt - It’s a midget killer!

I, Karl Rove, would rather see LearJet McCaskill get a second term than allow my supreme authority over the GOPe be defied.

You’re missing the point entirely. GOP wins when it doesn’t run from conservatism. With Akin’s missteps the GOPE turning on him became a bigger story than his own words were and just like he said...it did leave front page in a few days. He will likely win in a few weeks despite the rather moderate GOP leadership’s lack of spine.

You know I notice that the average entry date for posters on this thread is around 2007

boy this joint has changed

as time has progressed we get less and less social conservatives

is it generational lag I wonder...we older posters actually do remember a Leave it to Beaver America?

Thank you for posting this...informed voter's know that Akin voted to repeal Obamacare 30 times and Claire voted for it despite numerous requests from her constituents to oppose it; she has an F rating with the National Rifle Assoc. and Akin has an A rating; she voted for the Wall Street Bailout while Akin voted against it and Akin voted to pass a budget...she voted against it...also, Akin supports a balanced budget amendment.
My prayer is the voter's look long and hard at the stark differences between a true conservative and a hard core left wing radical. Republicans should be smart enough NOT to fall for the media's hype and trap!

Just put a Todd Akin sign up in my yard. My neighbor has one and my daughter has one. McCaskill has 5 MILLION dollars to run with...from the unions, pro choice folks and left wing radicals. We have to win this seat.

His campaign had to go on the defensive after a video surfaced of a 2008 address on the House floor in which he equated abortion providers to terrorists and said they commonly performed abortion procedures on women who were not pregnant

Akin has always been his own worst enemy.

The article points out the biggest problem Akin is facing - lack of money. With all the people who are saying that they now support Akin, very few are bringing any bucks with them. The election is four weeks from Tuesday. If the RNC and Rover are going to get back into this race then they had better do it soon.

The first debate showed America the real Romney and also the real Obama, without scripts. You can see how upset the left and MSM were about this. I doubt they let it happen again.

You can bet they will be on the same page next time.
