(CNN) Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney pointed Wednesday to the Massachusetts health reform law he signed and particularly its coverage of children when asked about his compassion for middle class people.
Romney raised the law in an interview with NBC News. Conservatives have criticized Romney for supporting the law, which is similar to the health reform law signed by President Barack Obama. Romney has said his law was constitutional and appropriate in Massachusetts, but was not meant to be implemented nationally.
"I think throughout this campaign as well, we talked about my record in Massachusetts, don't forget - I got everybody in my state insured," Romney told NBC News, according to a quote on their website. "One hundred percent of the kids in our state had health insurance.
"I don't think there's anything that shows more empathy and care about the people of this country than that kind of record," he continued.

“Compassion for the middle class” = TAX REDUCTION, Willard! C’mon...
“appropriate in Massachusetts, but was not meant to be implemented nationally.”
Yeah, people in crazy Massachusetts might see it as compassionate, but the rest of the country views it very differently. Then again, I guess when it comes to the states, you have to let them do what they want to do. Even if it’s dumb.
Good grief.... Thank you republicans for nominating this moron...
“Then again, I guess when it comes to the states, you have to let them do what they want to do. Even if its dumb.”
It’s a damn shame we keep forgetting that.
I hope he had more to say than that
Crap, how in he!! did we end up with a candidate who can’t do any better than to actually brag about “getting health care” for his state? I mean, if that is now what the purpose of government is, why would anyone vote for the Republican, when the dem will promise to “get” a lot more than that for constituents.
This is starting to look like McClame all over again.
once again a purposely misleading headline from CNN...
This is why I can give Mitt a pass on Romneycare. I’m a big fan of state’s rights and if the morons in Mass wanted this, they can have it. That is VASTLY different from imposing a mutated version on the entire country without any sort of referendum, and with the majority of people dissenting. That is what we call “tyranny”.
Anyone surprised?
Romney’s advisers have said “Romney will not repeal obamacare”.
Romney has said there are parts he likes.
Now it appears more and more Republicans are saying the same thing.
I don’t think there’s anything that shows more empathy and care about the people of this country than that kind of record,” he continued.

HEY !!! Willard !!!
giving illegal aliens free health care and making the American taxpayers in MASS and in other states pay for it is not compassion, “empathy and care about the people of THIS country”
So out of touch, so little time, so much an ignorant liberal dork...
If a state wants to adopt that, fine. Those who dislike it can vote with their feet and move to another state. If it’s forced on the entire country, we have nowhere to go.
Anybody who thinks this man is a conservative is a sucker. Unfortunately, what's the alternative?
I agree.
Unfortunately, there are many who are so desperate to rid the world of obama, they are ignoring who Romney is.
Is there an alternative, not after Romney destroyed the conservatives in the primary.
FACE PALM ALERT!
*face palm*
someone please inform Mittens he is supposed to try and win this thing
At least McConnell and boehner are more or less standing up to Obama's agenda. Do you think they'll stand up to Romney's liberalism?
It is not a Constutional prerogative of the government to be compassionate. That is the job of the citizens, the private sector.
The people of Mass. did not vote for RomneyCare it imposed on them just as ObamaCare was on the Nation. Romney said he was proud of RomneyCare. How anyone could have believed he was not for national health care did not want to listen to the truth. He 1st said he would give waivers, then he said he would repeal, then it was repeal and replaced. Now we know he is going to give us a name change. If Romney wins ObamaCare will be known as RomneyCare and we will be told it is a victory.
