SPOILER ALERT: EASTWOOD's 'Trouble With The Curve': Who Has Seen It?

Good evening,

I hope your Saturday has been just as enjoyable (despite all of the turmoil going on in this world) as it has been for our family.

My better half and I just returned from viewing an early evening flick: Clint Eastwood's 'Trouble With The Curve'.

Despite the liberals predictions (or secret wishes) that Eastwood's appearance at the RNC may have a negative impact on his theater ticket sales, I believe Clint Eastwood has hit a home run with this latest film.

It is an endearing story between a father and his grown daughter. The chemistry between Eastwood and Amy Adams (The Fighter, Enchanted, Julie & Julia) is seamless and compelling. This film also stars John Goodman and Justin Timberlake.

I won't spoil this story by providing any more details. If you haven't seen this film, do yourself a favor and visit your local cinema. You won't regret it.

A word of caution:

This film is rated PG13. There is no nudity, but as one may expect from a film about baseball, the language is raw and offensive. It comes with the territory. I'm glad our children stayed home.

Weekend estimates from BoxOfficeMojo:

End Of Watch: $13 mil

House at the end of The Street: $13 mil

Trouble with the Curve: $12.72 mil

Other than more theaters for Clint, pretty much equal.

I see from the list that after 6 weeks both ParaNorman and the Disney Timothy Green movies have bombed. Dredd 3D is a bomb in even one week.

Biggest profits this year so far are Ted (334% of budget), Avengers (183% of budget), and Dark Knight Rises (77% of budget).

BTW, both the top two this week at very low budgets. $7 and $10 million for the two.

Amazing. Let’s see if it holds up.

I think people are, frankly, getting tired of big “blockbusters” and all the advertising and then realize the movie sucks.

But then it is the end of summer.

Thanks for the info., Fledermaus.

TWTC’s numbers are respectable considering the limited showing, and lack of press-push.

Frankly ppl are tired of blockbusters/liberal propaganda flicks.

Woah...Yogi Berra breath. A spoiler alert comes when you give the ending. Others provided a lot more than I did, regarding the generational gap, etc. I gave a few salient facts about the movie and the crowd, which BTW I was one of. I think if you care to re-read my post the comments from others about it, you’ll see that it’s pretty accurate, and it entices people to see this movie, a fine movie I might add. Now have a delicious day and don’t forget your Prozac.

Hold your water, gramps, and change the Depends. Put the dentures back in while you’re at it. You’re drooling.

A “few salient facts”? “Others provided a lot more than I did...” Sure, if you’re counting the “Secret Decoder Ring” comments which aren’t visible to the naked eye.

I did not imply that your comments were “inaccurate” to some degree. I was referring to some of the observations and descriptions you chose to highlight. It reflected your personal opinion, and that’s fair enough, but those are your opinions.

I don’t believe your particular comments would entice anyone. After all, it was you who stated, “I give it a solid 2 1/2 stars”, and, “but the movie doesn’t stick with you”. 2 1/2 stars and “...doesn’t stick with you” never entices any moviegoer.

You left potential viewers with this comment:

“I recommend seeing it, especially if your picnic or other outdoor event is rained out.”

In other words, if you have nothing better to do, check out this film. Entice indeed. /s

Spoiler Alert would have been a considerate detail to include because you provided Freepers with information which would have been better experienced in allowing the story to unfold. You’ve taken a lot of the tension and mystery out of the characters and plot.
