The number of Americans satisfied with the countrys direction has nearly tripled over the past year, but a majority of them remain upset with where the United States is headed, according to a poll released Wednesday.
Three-in-ten Americans, or 30 percent, are very satisfied or somewhat satisfied, a Gallup poll found. That number is dwarfed by the 68 percent who are unhappy, including 41 percent who described themselves as very dissatisfied.

So wouldn’t that indicate less than 32% would vote for the current dufi in charge?
Oh but, don’t worry they really, really want 4 more years of this crap./sarc
Hopefully this will be reflected with the outcome of what will happen on November 6th.
So the other 32% must want more of our ambassadors raped and murdered by muslim pigs?
Makes perfect sense, this is America after all.
These polls are stupid. The left is unhappy because Obama isn’t take us to Marxism far enough fast enough. The right is unhappy for exactly the opposite reason.
Without breaking it down, this information is meaningless.
This is the one I always come back to. Reading RCP polls, they almost always have 0bama in the lead by some margin. But the ‘direction’ poll is telling...and it defies logic that if the huge majority thought the country was headed in the wrong direction, then why oh why would they elect the guy who brought us there?
Gallup should be expecting another call from the DOJ now...
I’ve always thought that stat was meaningless or subject to gross misintpretation.
How are they disatisfied?
Many on the left may be dissatisfied that Obama is not taking us into socialism fast enough. Just saying you’re dissatisfied doesn’t mean much.......
Not if the sample includes Marxists who think we aren’t enslaving the rich fast enough.
may indicate that 32% are p.o-ed that he did not implement Socialist Nirvana during his first three months in office.
There is also a 68% chance that Gallup will now be sued.
Maybe the people want more unemployment, more debt, more low middle class income, higher gas prices, higher food prices etc.
After all Gallup tells us the One is winning by at least 5 points. So...I guess they mean the wrong direction as in Obama is not doing enough of his magic. Huh?
“GALLUP POLL: 68% ARE UNHAPPY WITH COUNTRY’S DIRECTION”
Those racists...
That 32% just about reflects the amount that are on the permanent , never need to work, don’t want to work, don’t know how to work, DOLE! It is a permanent underclass that the Democrats must keep on their plantation if they want to succeed at elections.
68% of people being unhappy will not translate into a win for O. His 2008 posse will either be mad enough to vote for Romney or they will just stay home.
Sadly many of those will still vote for the status quo
...and probably half of the 68% are unwittingly responsible for putting us in this state, by virtue of their own votes and political mindset.
Meanwhile 90% of the lamestream media are fully satisfied with the direction of the country and much better off than they were four years ago.
-— Oh but, dont worry they really, really want 4 more years of this crap./sarc -—
Laid-off twice in the last four years. Never in the previous 25.
Yes! I want more!
Remember the loser from ‘08: “oh, thank you Mr. President for graciously taking time from your busy day!!!”? Even he has had enough.
May they all, learn from their lesson and we’ll be free from Jimmy Carter for another 32 years at least!
“This is the one I always come back to. Reading RCP polls, they almost always have 0bama in the lead by some margin. People may still be telling the polls they “like” Obama (and they know that they are lying when they make the statement), but they tell the truth about the economy because the answer is somewhat “detached” from Obama. In my opinion, this is the money question and FUBO ( and his media sycophants) know they are in deep sh!t.
What I don’t understand is:
1. America is on the wrong track
2. therefore, I’m voting to re-elect Obama.
Makes you wonder if Obama is not part of the question, Americans feel safe to speak their minds but when Obama’s name is mentioned in the question, the Wilder effect takes over and people speak their fidelity to Obama for fear of being called a racist.
You’re always so full of good positive posts. Nobody wants sunshine blown up their ass, but you have very little good things to say in your posts. That can be just as annoying.
I’m sorry to hear about that I know how it’s like, I graduated in 08 and it took me three years to find a full time job, that was the most frustrating time of my life, but I stuck in there and got work. I like you, don’t want another four years of this garbage, I want to see the economy grow, I want to have a bright future for my yet to be born children, I want the price of gas to go down so I can buy a new car and afford payments. I think a lot of people feel this way.
RE: 68% Unhappy with country’s direction.
And yet, polls show that a significant number vote to go FORWARD. Go figure....
oh noes... looking at the last few posts I think I have turned this thread into Facebook.
And yet, a big chunk of that 68% will vote for Obama and hope he pays their mortgage and gas for them. Way too many Americans see the solution for our problems to be giving bigger handouts.
Not sure if that /sarc tag is needed. It'll be interesting to see what the Gallup numbers re: 0 vs R will be today.
Hysterically funny stuff. Each election you try and help the RATS with more and more ridiculous alternatives to the Republican. It won’t be long before your candidates won’t get more votes than the Mickey Mouse write-ins.
This latest makes The Disaster look experienced.
How much of a lunatic does one have to be to run for president when he not only does not have a chance but is laughably unqualified?
If this loon’s name was subject to a recognition test there would not be 0.00001% of the polled who recognize it.
One could not DELIBERATELY find a more obscure candidate.
Says a man who is supporting the most liberal governor in the history of the republic.
What could be more ridiculous than that?
Voting for you.....
:-)
So, you’re on America’s premiere conservative forum, declaring that it is ridiculous to support me, someone who has consistently fought for more than twenty years for every single stated principle on the homepage of Free Republic, more than it is is ridiculous to support the most liberal governor in the history of the republic.
Okey-dokey then.
Every day i wonder where people like this come from if your satisfied with the direction of our country where is your head right now or where has it been that you can't see this is the wrong direction for freedom and prosperity
Or are these maybe the folks who are well off enough to not think that these times will effect them directly
I just don't understand how people can be that stupid or oblivious ....
Proud exposer of your silliness.
Unfortunately most of the masses are more interested in sucking the life out of God`s unborn children, and celebrating homosexuality, than they are in anything else.
A Jewish elected Democrat on Cavuto yesterday gave that very answer (I paraphrase) as why so many American Jews vote Democrat.
His exact words....their support for abortion/homosexuality trumps the plight of their brothers well being in Israel.
Now I know most Jews reject Christ, but I would like to ask them what in Heavens name their Old Testament has to say about Homosexuality and harming a child/abortion.
I and they know very well what it says.
Jesus was a Jew, am not knocking Jews, I weep for them, just as I do the poor dumb black`s and Catholic Dems etc that basically ALL spit on Christ.
ALL these folks are going to vote Democrat regardless of their situation.
Nothing could be sillier than claiming to be a conservative while supporting liberals.
This coming from some one who couldn’t win for dog catcher in your local area.......
Who are these 32% who think we are headed in the right direction? Our embassies are in flames; nearly 400,000 people lost there jobs just LAST week, 23 million people are unemployed, 45 million people are on food stamps; gas prices at an all time high; medicare and SS are nearing bankruptcy; we are 16 Trillion in debt; the fed is printing money and the dollar is in freefall; inflation is on the rise; we are on the brink of another world war in the middle east etc, etc.
32% think we are headed in the right direction?????? Who the F@!K are these people????? Pretty scary.
The argument for those 32% is “You may hate Obama but you’ll REALLY hate Romney”.Some will buy that argument, some will not but that’s the crux of the argument.
The choices will be:
Tom Hoefling, [me] a pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-border security, pro-Constitution, peace through strength Reagan conservative.
Barack Obama, the most liberal [alleged] president in history.
Mitt Romney, the most liberal governor in history, a candidate who has already quite obviously ceded California's electoral votes to Obama.
Rosanne Barr, a crazed leftist.
Gary Johnson, a pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, isolationist Libertarian.
So, in addition to telling us who you would vote for with such choices, please explain how it is "silly" for a conservative to vote for me.
*Jim, I pinged you to this exchange because you're an influential citizen of the great state of California.
The argument being made to them is “It’s bad now but it’ll be worse with Romney”. That’s why the libs are not touting their record, such as it is. They know they cannot make Obama look good enough to win votes. Instead, they need to make Romney look bad enough that Obama looks like the better option in comparison.
Three-in-ten Americans, or 30 percent, are very satisfied with being on welfare.
All play and no work paid for by the worker bees.
...and still Obama leads in almost every poll including Gallup...
Good to see some sanity. I’m in the same situation myself. Good luck sir.!
Yet the polls would have us believe that the Liberal Messiah and Romney are essentially tied. If 68% believe the country is going in the wrong direction, then Romney will easily win in November. Either this poll or the Presidential polls are wrong. I'm guessing the latter.
