So far as I can tell, Merkel is trying to govern responsibly. Her detractors are mostly Democrat lookalikes playing the I hate minorities, women and children cards.
Funny. The same attitude and words were used on Dame Margret Thatcher.
I will be polite and ask if this was suppose to be a snark or if the author is unaware that being a pastor in East Germany was not usually a profession that was state approved.
In reality, it is West Germany that annexed East Germany! For example, many East German companies that were worth something were taken over by West German companies. Companies that were troubled (i.e., communist basket cases) were liquidated. The result was high unemployment in the East after reunification.
The reunified Germany, however, was REAL TROUBLE for Serbia and its neighbors, carving out a sphere of influence in Roman Catholic Slovenia and Croatia while the US (especially under clinton) supported a muslim-dominated Bosnia. That left Orthodox Christian Serbia the odd man out.
Now Serbia is suffering from Merkel’s blustering, and we Americans are still saddled with muslim-dominated states in the Balkans that add to our BIG muslim problem at home and abroad.
That's why my grandma was so hard to get along with.
She was aiming at world domination all the time.
Fortunately, she didn't get as close as Merkel.
But they did have a lot in common.
Germany is being asked to bail out most of Southern Europe. They are imposing rather strict conditions (if you want my money, you have to do what I say).
In a way, this is kind of funny. Germany and France have for hundreds of years wanted to rule Europe. Now they do, and realize that they have to pay for a lot of people who think being lazy is a vocation.
Lots of irony there.
She's got one hell of a long way to go, to turn the Bundeswehr into the spitting image of its '70's Cold-War forebear, even moreso the mighty Wehrmacht.
She's got troops in The Suck, and they're getting some combat experience; but at the same time, they're gradually using up their equipment like we did in The Sandbox.
Angela must be destroyed. She is, afterall, fiscally conservative and she has enemies. Because of her, I switched investment penneys heavily to Germany. She can spell the word austerity.
