I'm surprised by this - I assumed that Huckabee and his allies would be putting in the funding necessary to keep Akin in the race. Have they written him off?

... past the deadline for him to get out.

That would be Tuesday, September 11th, if I remember the week count correctly from the Missouri election law.

The GOP bigwig RINO’s have put out the word to big donors not to support Akin. The RINO’s always like to see Dems beating conservatives.

I assumed George Soros would be putting in the funding necessary to keep Akin in the race.

Since Aiken OBVIOUSLY isn’t dropping out of the race, the GOP SHOULD be funding him. McCaskill is a menace and VULNERABLE.

You would think that someone in a U.S. Senate race against an extremely weak opponent would be smart enough to realize the only way he could possibly lose was to stand in front of TV cameras and say things that were both stupid and offensive.

You would think that before he decided to remain the Republican candidate he would insure he had enough funds to actually conduct a campaign.

Evidently not.

Akin won a close 3 way primary because Democrats crossed over to support him.

The Democrats and the MSM went after Akin and got him to say dumb things.

The Republican establishment then went after Akin and attacked him and demanded he withdraw.

Akin stayed in the race. Now evidently he has to figure out how to finance his campaign.

I just don't think Mr. Akin is going to come up with any brilliant fund raising strategies.

I still hope Mr. Akin wins.

Amazed that there’s anyone left on FR to defend this moron. Easy Senate pickup down the drain. It is surreal. We have a better chance of winning CT and MA than MO. Shoot me now.

I’d take anything KOMU says with a ton of salt.

I think he has until Sept 25 to withdraw. McCaskill is going easy on him sticking to positive ads about herself until Sept 25 when all of her ads are going to be negative on him. I think he blew himself with his rape comments and the RNC can play chicken with him and not give him any money to try to get him out by the deadline so they can get a candidate who can win.If he does not withdraw, the RNC should not give McCaskill a free ride and they should start funding him to run negative ads vs McCaskill so long as he agrees not to tie himself to the national ticket in the ads. They do not need the lead weight.IMHO

Akin poisoned the well and made other Republicans had to defend themselves unnecessarily. It's time he understands the consequences of staying in the race when Republicans from various stripes from Palin, West, to Brown called for withdrawal but he refused. Let Parkinsons and Huckabee fund him. Or, until September 25, the Dims will be gladly so.

Yes, he apologized, but such apology in politics doesn't mean anything if he harmed the cause.

I imagine the tone of the race will change markedly if Akin stays in past the deadline for him to get out.

Which is in 18 more days and 15 more minutes. Deadline is 5 p.m. on the 6th Tuesday prior to election day.
