Black Pastors Meet in Va. to Discuss Support for Obama
The Christian Post ^ | 4 Sep 12 | Michael Gryboski

A group of black pastors in Virginia held a meeting to discuss how to encourage their congregations to vote for President Barack Obama.

Around two dozen clergy from various churches in the area met for two hours on Saturday in Chesapeake, discussing possible ideas for motivating support for Obama among their congregations. "We are concerned that many of our congregants are developing an aversion to supporting the president at the polls," read the invite email, which was sent out last month.

The major concern among the clergy was that Obama's support for same-sex marriage would prompt many African Americans to refuse to vote for Obama come November.

Since President Obama announced that he had changed his position on same-sex marriage from opposition to support, many black pastors have stated their opposition to voting for Obama in the 2012 presidential election.

In early August, the Coalition of African-American Pastors announced the launch of a "Mandate for Marriage" effort, which involved a petition to gather the signatures of people pledging to support traditional marriage.

The National Black Church Initiative, a nationwide organization led by the Rev. Anthony Evans, boasted of having had several thousand volunteers in Maryland alone who were determined not only to vote for striking down the state's recently passed same-sex marriage law but also against President Obama's re-election effort.

"These 8,000 volunteers are committed to defeating same-sex marriage and to defeating any candidate who supports same-sex marriage," said Evans in an earlier interview with CP. "So when they go to the polls, they will go down the list after voting against same-sex marriage just to vote against any candidate and that includes President Obama."

Evans explained that while he and his organization are Democrats, they nevertheless do not intend to vote for the president. ...

We were concerned that you would place more importance of your religious faith over skin color... so here’s our encouragement for you to do otherwise.

Many/Most are “black” before they are principled. They’ll cave, privately at least.

You can serve God - or you can serve Obama.
You can't do both as they are mutually exclusive.

Time to choose.

As for me and my house, ....

“I hope these gentlemen understand obama does not think the way they do.”

I must respectfully disagree. They all think the same. It’s not about God or Jesus. The black churches are CINO’s: Churches in Name Only. They are the cotton fields for the slaves, the ministers are the field bosses, and the congregation’s only job is to vote democrat to keep massa in power. The black “churches” are just an arm of the socialist government, and the socialist government will never bring them to task over the violation of separation of church and state. The black church believes the state is their god, and that’s “right thinking” which is rewarded.

The more I think about it, the black church is really a “cargo cult” where they worship a government that brings the goodies seemingly out of the clear blue sky.

I am curious as to whether the black churches received money for remodeling or other improvements. I know when I worked the polls in Virginia..we voted at a black church..they either got new carpeting, new pews or other “perks.” It always happened right before the elections

Blacks are the Democrat Party. The difference between running a white Dem or a black Dem is the difference between 95% and 99% support. In the end it makes no difference whether Dems support gay marriage or oppose school vouchers. They will vote overwhelmingly Democrat. Luck on election day for a Republican is bad weather impacting the polls in black areas.

How do they get their congregations to support Obama?

Easy. They’ll stand at the pulpit and scat out three words, stretching five syllables into 20, as only they can: “Vote for Obama!!!!”

That’s it. And they KNOW that’s it. All else is posturing for public consumption. If they really, truly held to God’s Word, they’d have run like rabbits from Obama, one of late-term abortion’s most strident advocates.

OK, the Blacks will not vote 98 percent for the Kenyan — they’ll vote 97 percent for him. It’s a racial thing you know.

“Evans explained that while he and his organization are Democrats, they nevertheless do NOT intend to vote for the president. ...”

So if he isn’t voting for the president, I wonder if he’ll encourage his membership to vote Republican this time around.

According to the article, some intend to vote for Obama anyhow. When they’re burning in Hell, they’ll have the comfort of saying, “Well, at least we voted for that guy, Obama, back in 2011!” Hope it’s worth it.
