It's irresistible to play the game of imagining the MSM response had a prominent Republican been caught saying of Barack Obama that "a few years ago this guy would have been carrying our bags." In the case of a Mitt Romney or Paul Ryan, calls for them to quit the campaign would be echoing from the halls of MSNBC to the shores of the New York Times.
But let a Democrat say it, in the person of The World's Greatest and Most Beloved Politician, AKA Bill Clinton, and well, no problem. The MSM reacts with a yawn. Take Ryan Lizza, the New Yorker correspondent who actually broke the story. Appearing on CNN this morning, Lizza assured host Soledad O'Brien that "I don't think it's racial. I don't think Bill Clinton has a racist bone in his body."

Imagine the hell if a conservative had said this. Ping to Today show list.
“New Yorker’s Lizza: Nothing Racial About Clinton’s ‘Obama Would Have Been Carrying Our Bags’ “
These people cannot possibly be anymore transparent.
oh yeah, THAT statement’s not racial, but a republican talking about GOLF or CHICAGO is a screaming racist. makes total sense /sarc
Maybe Mr.Lizza should interview a few of the people who knew Bill Clinton as an undergraduate at Georgetown. Then he would not only come to understand Clinton, but the adage that “at eighteen you are basically the same person you will be at eighty five.”

Hillary apparently means to complain that anti black racism was supposedly so total in that era, that Barack Obama would have been reduced to servile work, unable to pursue any more advanced profession.
Calling her racist is beside the point. She should be called a liar.
If you are a Democrat you can make racial jokes and get away with it because they cannot use it politically against their own party members. The Democrats will continue to play the race card because they do not have many cards to play because the economy stinks so bad under their leadership. They are grasping to keep support from these groups so they can keep power. Clinton knows how to play the game.
No, there isn’t Billy boy was talking about the guy’s lack of a real resume. Hey, obama doesn’t have the resume of most guys working at McDonalds.
Hey, he was just saying the truth. I can see Obama carrying Bill’s bags.
“Obama would have been carrying our bags” = Not racial
“They gonna put y’all back in chains” = Not racial
“They’re running an angry campaign” = Racial
“Welfare” = Racial
“Chicago” = Racial
Got it.
I tend to give Billy BJ the benefit of the doubt on this one. He might just have been saying that the political job Obama is qualified for is baggage handling. I agree with him there.
Odd since “Chicago” is a racial slur as is food stamps but for some reason referring to Obama as a servant to rich white guys is not.
Do Democrats do anything other than lie? Seriously, the only honest comment I heard from a Democrat was when O’Malley said we aren’t better off.
Clinton’s cool, but any word that comes out of a Republican’s mouth is racist. Seriously, as far as free speech is concerned, I feel like we’re living in a totalitarian state.
Clinton, being a Democrat, is incapable of racism. It’s just that simple.
Orwell’s 1984 it is. Words no longer have common meaning. Everything needs a party operative to interpret sentences into their proper political meanings.
Oh sure. All Columbia and Harvard Law magnas carry bags for and serve coffee to fat cat white guys like Bubba and Teddy. (snort)
Of course not!
They are Democrats!
Why, since they are Democrats, they would not even be racist if they joined the KKK - Just ask Robert Byrd.
