The General Lee Bo and Luke Dukes vehicle of choice from The Dukes of Hazzard is a classic and instantly recognizable Hollywood car. But its about to get a little less recognizable as Warner Bros., the studio that owns the theatrical, DVD and licensing rights to The Dukes of Hazzard, has decided to remove the confederate flag from all future versions of the car.
The news has reportedly been floating around the hobby community over the past few days as Dukes of Hazzard collectors became aware of a new regulation. A collector on HobbyTalk.com was told by a representative at Dukes of Hazzard toy company Tomy:
Starting January 1, 2013 all Dukes of Hazzard General Lee vehicles will not be allowed to be produced with the Confederate Flag on the top of the vehicle.
According to the toy rep, the word came directly from Warner Bros. who no longer wants to endorse an item that has the Confederate flag printed on it.
As of now, this directive only expressly includes merchandising but Warner Bros. is developing a new Dukes of Hazzard movie with Jody Hill directing and if theyre being this strict about licensing issues, they could very well enforce the same policy with the upcoming film. But what is a Dukes of Hazzard property without the General Lee with the flag painted on top?

Joke she would be more appropriate for Godzilla
OK, the choice of car is...nevermind, I LOVE IT!!! That took some guts.
dig, dig, dig There’s that timing again. Ah, who’s racist? (The original show was actually a parody of Southerners to begin with, anyway.
We were just too guileless to see it.)
Bless their hearts.
Maybe the General Benedict Arnold..Or the General Screw Up.
What would ol’ Jack Warner say? Didn’t he back LBJ in 1964?

stupidity at it’s finest.
I have a confedrate flag flying in my front garden and on my car but to remove this is absurd.
The new movie can piss off too as I’m concerned.
What gets me is that the people who are pissed off with the rebel flag are the white elitist liberals.
I go to boxing fights and train fighters and on my vehicle there is a confedrate flag and I take those fighters to their fights and guess what.
None of the blacks have a problem with it infact they get a kick out of it and actually fly the flag, ne actually bought shorts with a flag on it for a fight and the looks he got from some white elitist types was priceless
They should keep the Stars and Bars on it and overlay the Jolly Roger on top of that.
LOL LOL LOL THAT IS FUNNY
after a crap day that made me laugh , truth is that it would not surprise me today.
someone actually did that to their car???
Nah that would be trademark infringement:
Besides Jeff would throw a hissy fit...
Wow, make the best of a bad thing. I’d drive it. In the DOH movie, they don’t notice the flag until they’re stuck on the freeway and one chick says,”Are you guys late for your klan ralley” and a trucker blasts his horn and says the South will rise again. Then they slide out and see the flag. It’s actually pretty funny.
I’d rather see that than the rainbow homo flag.
Well they did take down a stature of Robert E. Lee in Richmond, VA of all places. Replace it with a stature of the tennis player, Arthur Ashe because they wanted 'diversity'.

You take the flag off and you’ve got an orange car. Whoopee.
No. They didn't take down Lee's statue. They added a statue of Ashe to the other statues that stand on Monument Avenue.
This is something you don't want to be wrong about when it's so easy to get the facts and be right.
To be fair, General Sherman went through Atlanta a whole lot faster than the Duke boys ever did.
I remember that happening or at least the talk of it when I lived in Richmond
