Vice President Joe Biden is going home to Delaware.
The updated White House calendar for Aug. 27 reports that “in the morning, the Vice President will meet with senior advisers. Later, the Vice President will be in Wilmington, Delaware.”
“There are no public events scheduled,” said the 5:36 p.m. White House announcement, titled “Daily Guidance for the Vice President.”
Biden’s retreat home during the increasingly frenetic 2012 race comes amid increased criticism for his campaign-trail performance.
Biden was slated to share an uncomfortable lunch with President Barack Obama on Thursday, following his disastrous week on the campaign trail, which culminated with a racially inflammatory warning to African-American supporters that Mitt Romney will “put y’all back in chains.”
The flubs revived chatter about whether the president will drop Biden, and seek a substitute vice president to win the tough 2012 race.
Obama’s spokesman Jay Carney on Thursday provided a tepid defense of Biden when he was asked if the vice president would remain on the ticket.
“Yes and that was settled a long long time ago,” Carney said, before quickly changing the subject to Medicare.
Despite the vice president’s apparent benching, his wife Jill Biden is going back out on the campaign trail.
However, she’s only going down the road from their house in Wilmington.
On Friday, “Biden will visit the Guardian Angel Child Care in Wilmington for a reading of her book Don’t Forget, God Bless Our Troops,” according to a White House statement.
Biden’s campaign trail flubs also included two errors that prompted derision from GOP supporters and from the media.
Biden also managed to irritate the Washington Post’s editorialists, who complained about Biden’s response to a question about the Social Security program, which is heading rapidly toward bankruptcy.
“I guarantee you, flat guarantee you, there will be no changes in Social Security. … I flat guarantee you,” he said.
Biden’s chain claim was especially damaging because it helps Romney persuade swing-voters that the Obama campaign is divisive and hateful, in contrast to Obama’s 2008 “hope and change” message.
“Mr. President, take your campaign of division and anger and hate back to Chicago,” Romney said during a Wednesday speech in Ohio.
The Obama campaign “is one of the most hateful, divisive operations that we have ever seen in this country,” Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said on the Tuesday episode of “Hannity” on Fox News Channel.
It would be so easy to do, too. A mild stroke, anyone would believe that. Needs a rest. Getting to the age, you see...
Would they? I don’t think they’d need to, or they might not do it and claim they did, providing Biden likes that choice better.
I know for certain that Hillary’s “foreign policy” has been a disaster in Syria & Egypt. Has she done ANYTHING good as SOS?

In 1972 Sen. Joseph Biden, the Democrat nominee for vice President, lost his wife and young daughter in a car accident. Losing your family in an auto accident is a gut wrenching tragedy, to be sure. No one underestimates that and no ever blamed Mrs. Biden for the accident.
Right up there with despicable things one human can do to another, is falsely accusing the innocent of a crime. “Bearing false witness” is even in the 10 commandments, but Mr. Biden’s feigned Catholicism doesn’t let that stop him. (snip)
Obama already has a lock on those voters.
What Hillary on the ticket does, I'm afraid, is bring back those white, independent voters who pushed Obama to victory in 2008 and who wanted so badly for him to succeed. Many of these voters have become disillusioned with Hope and Change. Hillary reinvigorates the ticket and might make them think, "let's give him a second chance". If these voters return to Obama, the race is over.
This is not news. According to his secret service detail, he goes home every weekend. They hate it. This was told to my husband by his ss detail when Slaw Joe stayed in our city on his way to a campaign stop a couple of months ago. As the fire inspector, my husband had to spend the night at the hotel and he talked most of the night with them.
The Clintons are moving quickly on Obama. It was only a matter of time. There was no way they were ever going to forgive and forget 2008. To let some punk from Chicago screw them without payback? No way. Obama is about to experience payback in an ugly way. Just the way the Clintons always do it...no blood, no paper trail.

The sad truth though is Americans don't really care about foreign policy, particularly when the domestic economy is in tatters. Only a small percentage of American voters are aware of the situation in both of these countries --and even many of them don't care one way or the other how it plays out.

I can’t imagine a WH with Michelle O my bell and the Hill sharing a hallway together! They can’t stand each other, add Valerie Jarrett to that mix. Get the popcorn cause a cat fight will ensue. It once was a time when we would laugh about too much testosterone would cause a fight, but can you only imagine the Progesterone in the WH?

I think BO casually mentioned, over lunch, that he was going to schedule a couple of campaign stops in Mena, AR, for the Vice President.
Good thought! The fight will be between O and his female rulers, Val and Michelle, and just how much they love the life, perks and power to which they’ve become very accustomed. The rancor, skullduggery and catfights would be legend.
