Not a surprise. Most gays went on Wednesday with the rest of the folks based on free speech. This proves though that if we put up a decent conservative Presidential candidate, we would win. Why everyone on Free Republic (Most anyway) feel that Romney is the greatest candidate on Earth is beyond me. As you can see people will support values and morals as proved on Wednesday. Dump Romney for a conservative and watch the conservative immediately get voted in with zero worries. Romney is going to be a close call which we do not need.
Romney is absolutely not the right candidate for this moment in history. He is lukewarm on social issues and not a part of Wed. Aug 1, which was a strong public showing of the extent to which social issues really do motivate people.
In picking him the GOP not only could have done better, they could scarcely have done worse.
Where on Earth did you get the idea that most Freepers think Romney is a great candidate? If you followed FR during the Republican primaries, you would see overwhelmingly that Romney was almost nobody's favorite here.
I agree that Romney is not the right candidate for this moment in history, and he was certainly not my choice for the Republican nominee.
But it appears now that he IS the Republican candidate this time around. Being willing to vote for him now to get rid of Obama, and even support Romney's candidacy with money, is seen as the better of the two options.
Given the alternative of a lame-duck Obama with four more years to "transform" our beloved nation, supporting Romney is the only responsible choice. But that doesn't mean that most Freepers like it. I know I don't.
Funniest thing I have read in days...I KNOW you have been here a while and post regularly- but you might need to read more...really?
Romney is not going to win any popularity contest here, in fact I expect many that post here will vote third party or not at all because they can't bring themselves to vote for him even as a vote against Obama. In fact it is because of what I read here that I fear we may get four more years of Obama.
