8,753,935: Workers on Disability Set Another Record in July; Exceed Population of 39 States By Terence P. Jeffrey July 23, 2012

(CNSNews.com) - The number of workers taking federal disability insurance payments hit yet another record in July, increasing to 8,753,935 during the month from the previous record of 8,733,461 set in June, according to newly released data from the Social Security Administration.

The 8,753,935 workers who took federal disability insurance payments in July exceeded the population of 39 of the 50 states. Only 11 states—California, Texas, New York, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Georgia, North Carolina and New Jersey—had more people in them than the number of workers on the federal disability insurance rolls in July.

Virginia, the twelfth most-populous state, had 8,096,604 people in 2011, according to the latest Census Bureau estimate. That would make Virginia’s population about 657,331 less than the number of workers who took federal disability insurance payments in July.

Congress enacted legislation in 1956 to add federal disability insurance to the Social Security system. Over the decades, the number of Americans actually working has dramatically declined relative to the number claiming federal disability insurance payments.

By July 1967, there 74,520,000 Americans actually working and 1,145,663 workers taking disability payments. That made a ratio of 65 actual workers for each worker collecting disability. In July 1987, there were 112,634,000 people actually working and 2,759,852 people collecting disability—a ratio of about 41 actual workers to each worker collecting disability.

When President Barack Obama took office in January 2009, there were 142,187,000 people actually working and 7,442,377 workers collecting disability—a ratio of about 19 to 1.

I don’t understand how so many are able to get on disability. Where I live I understand it is nearly impossible to get it when people are actually disabled. I was told by a doctor’s wife that she has a family member in a wheel chair and cannot get disability. I hear doctors do not want to do the paperwork, etc. It must be easier in other places.

The disability scam, created by Obama’s permanent depression, compensates people who have run out of unemployment thanks to the wretched economy zero has created.

If we want another 4 years of this cretin permanently destroying and bankrupting America, just do nothing this November.

Why Disabilities Are on the Rise
by Robert H. Shmerling, M.D.
Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
When I started my practice as an arthritis doctor, I hoped I’d be able to prevent disability. I even imagined that some of my patients would no longer need their canes, walkers or wheelchairs.
To some degree, it’s happened. People with some types of arthritis are able to get back to a high or even normal level of functioning after treatment. Most people with canes, however, are stuck with them.
It might seem that modern medicine should be reducing the number of people with disabilities. In fact, the number of disabled persons is actually increasing. Here’s why.

The Aging Population
As our population grows and ages, there are more and more people with disabilities.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of people in the United States with disabilities increased from 44.1 million to 47.5 million between 1999 and 2005. Both numbers represent about 22% of the population.

My husband is on disability due to a near-fatal auto accident nearly six years ago. He recently fell and broke his hip and just had surgery. He is definitely disabled and will not improve much. I blame Obama for a lot of things, but not necessarily the upswing in disability.

It’s about the lawyers.

The feds are in bed with these sleazy disability chaser firms. Just watch the ads on Daytime TV.

The deal is the lawyers take a third or more of the benefit from the time of application until the disability is approved and granted. The feds will decline you at least once, and this is the scam that makes it worth the time for the lawyers. Once approved by the feds, the clock stops and the lawyer extracts their fees. I have heard the feds recently are taking as much as two years — do the math on how the longer it takes is beneficial only to the lawyer involved.

What profession are the majority of lawmakers in? Lawyers.

“I don’t understand how so many are able to get on disability...”

Here’s a clue. Do you live in a Blue state or a Red State?

“You’ve paid into the system all your working life.
Now get the benefits you’re entitled to.
No fees until your case settles.”

Most often shown during Springer, Wilkos, and Maury.

We are on the very road Greece paved the way for, and it’s a rough one. Potholes and cliffs and all. When the foreign loans stop we’re done. Who will bail us out? Nobody would be able were they willing.

“The Federal government has capped the amount of money that the disability lawyer can win and periodically updates this amount. In 2010 the maximum allowed is 25% of a Social Security Disability claimant’s back pay or a maximum of $6,000 per case. Do all disability claimants have back pay? Most disability claimants will have a certain amount of back pay due to the length of time it takes the Social Security Administration to process Social Security Disability claims.”

http://www.disabilitybenefitshome.com/disability-benefits-blog/2010/12/how-much-does-a-social-security-disability-lawyer-make/

The lawyers really don't get that much when you figure what they make off tort claims. They make the money off having lots of case claims.

Hire a lawyer to sue someone for most anything and your cost will be far more than the $6k max.

I have COPD, Sleep Apnea, asthma and pneumonia scars all over my lungs. My breathing capacity is at 44% of what it should be. And it still took me 6 months and 3 dr visits to be accepted for disability.

How people can get on so easy just because they have run out of unemployment is beyond me. They're just ruining the system for those of us who actually NEED it.

And on top of this there's another darker side. Everyone who's on SS disability, is AUTOMAGICALLY enrolled in Medicare as well so it's a double whammy for the fed budget and the working people who have to pay.

No wonder the entire fed system is going to come down around our heads.

Easy fix...

If you are so disabled that you can not work, then you should not be allowed to drive. Most of these scammers are claiming ADHD. They should not be driving on those meds.

Driving is a privilege that should be reserved for productive members of society and those retired after leading productive lives.

Revoke their drivers license and do not allow them to register autos. If caught behind the wheel, SSI ends immediately. How many would really be willing to give up their wheels for these scams?

Added benefits: easier commutes for the worker bees with fewer cars on the roads, drop in pollution so better air quality, and less drug dealing.

My assessment tells me that the SS denies most claims outright as a rule. Here, comes the next step in the process. A multitude of disability claim lawyers who, for a fee, will push you claim through and get it to adjudication. It can take a couple three years, but it’s a lifetime check. A whole industry aimed at putting leeches on the dole...it just takes enough cash to follow through with a shyster lawyer and his Bahamian (or similar) doctor consultant.

With this great increase of people going on disabilty and hundreds of thousands of baby boomers going on SS, this gives a lie to things are improving.

Are these jobs being restaffed by new hires? If so, they are not new jobs, but only workers in old jobs being replaced.

-———And on top of this there’s another darker side.———

That is the lawyers. Locally there are lawyers advertising for people to come to them to get help with their SS Disability claims. The lawyers are being paid to facilitate the disability scam.

There needs to severe disabling retribution after the election.

Actually the max amount a Lawyer can take in a SS disability case is capped at $6000.00. How they make there money is by volume. As almost all cases are turned down on the first try. Then it takes from 12 to 16 months to get a court date. It’s not that easy for any one to get a favorable outcome.
