Dark economic clouds gather anew over Obama campaign

(Reuters) - After a month in which his re-election campaign picked up momentum, hard economic realities are about to hit President Barack Obama as he takes to the road on a campaign bus trip through the Rust Belt.

Poor manufacturing data earlier this week followed by a likely weak jobless report on Friday are reminding Obama that he has a lot of work to do to convince voters he is bringing the economy back to full health.

A Supreme Court victory for Obama on healthcare and a surprise expansion of immigration laws that put Republican opponent Mitt Romney on the defensive on the issue may soon fade from memory.

"By Friday, the Supreme Court will be in the rear-view mirror and everybody will be talking about the state of the economy," said Greg Valliere, an analyst for institutional investors at Potomac Research Group.

"I think the debate on Friday will be whether the economy is still growing or whether we've hit a brick wall," he said.

U.S. manufacturing activity contracted in June for the first time in nearly three years, data showed on Monday, stark evidence of a slowing economic recovery and that Europe's debt crisis is weighing on the U.S. economy.

And the monthly jobless figures, the most closely watched economic indicator, are expected to be lackluster.

obamma will blame bush again. This goes to show everyone that obamma is not the man to overcome all the evil that Bush caused, even after 3 1/2 years of trying. /s

obamma is lacking in what is required for the job.

Time for a change and a new hope!

When it comes to local gas prices you have to know how much your local city/county is collecting.

In Okaloosa county the gas prices between the north end and south end vary by a constant 5 cents a gallon. Wondered why until a friend provided me a read out of local gas taxes.

As for DC being still over $ 4.00. Remember that DC has no natural source of revenue - no manufacturing and no agriculture. Their sole source of income is direct feeds from the Federal Government. That is why your gas is so high. When I have to go to DC for business i fly into Richmond, rent a car and drive in. It is cheaper than all the taxes and fees that DC adds to its car rentals at National.

It doesn’t matter )bama will re-election in a walk. The media has his back. The will hide the facts from the mushy middle and they will vote for the man with the winning smile.....I’ve even seen a couple polls already show the mushy middle is warming up to 0bamaCare now.

“DARK Clouds”

Here we go again - yet ANOTHER RACIST reporter attacking the president because of his skin color. There is only so much that us conservatives can take from these, so-called, mainstream reporters.

Well - contrary to the Dems (and many a poster on this forum) Obama could be soundly beaten in the coming election by Mickey Mouse - or just about any candidate that would say he would kill Obamacare.

That is, unless too many conservatives refuse to vote against the commie bastard.

I can only speak for myself. The only big purchases I have made in the past year were guns, ammo and reloading gear.

A lot of unions on strike here in the rust belt. From big Caterpillar to small ma-n-pa they don’t want to work.

How will Obama deal with this reality?

$3.09 here in northwestern North Carolina. Ten cents cheaper just over the border in Virginia. South Carolina is less than that. We can thank our infernally high “road use tax” on gasoline for the difference. Still, it’s much better than pushing $4.00, as it was just a few months ago.
