When elected, Romney can waiver all Americans until Obamacare is repealed(vanity)

It did occur to me that the since the precedent has been established that POTUS can simply waive laws, as in Obama's waiving of enforcement of immigration laws, and that Obama himself has granted numerous waivers for Obamacare itself, Romney can do the same thing until Obamacare can be repealed.

Just a thought.

...and not a bad thought at that. Whatever it takes.

Never going to happen.

And are Republicans really going to make a case against the government paying people’s medical bills?

Dream on. If its strictly a dollar and cents argument, Republicans and conservatives will lose.

It has to be an argument about freedom, which is not subject to economic cycles but the basic tenet of the American Founding.

If conservatives don’t want to make that their argument, we will get single payer sooner than later.

Brilliant idea.

Not saying not to do that...just offering up this idea as one strategy among many.

That begs the question: Why would he do that, considering he INVENTED IT?

It would be like Thomas Edison inventing the light bulb, getting elected President, and banning it.

If we had someone who would do it, I would try to mirror the wording of the Emancipation Proclamation as closely as possible ... close enough to be accused rightly of plagiarism.

Just because Romney “can” does not mean he will. Isn’t this whole mandate implemented by Romney himself? He has never apologized for it. So, please stop dreaming that Romney will do anything even if he gets elected.

However, future (non-Romney) Republican Presidents could waive it.

He already said repeal of the law will be his first priority. Not much different than a ‘Read My Lips’ moment.

That would guarantee him to be a one term president. I think, given his unequivocal statement this morning, he knows that.

Although Romney could issue waivers for all Americans, it wouldn’t be a good thing. Obama vowed not to enforce immigration laws and we all thought that was preempting the powers of Congress. Why would we think it was a good thing if our guy did it?

If it was Santorum, Newt or some of the other candidates who were going to be President, I would wholeheartedly agree with you, but since we are talking about Obama’s twin brother I don’t believe for a second that will happen. Romney is jumping up and down for joy with the decision today....Oh he won’t in public and he will play the game but he is standing tall knowing it is his actions that resulted in Obamacare.

He could also issue an executive order refusing to prosecute those who fail to comply and refuse to pay.

The waiver process is in the code. Mitt doesn’t need to “hand waive.” (Pun intended.) He in fact promised to do that on his inaugural day for all 50 states... together with his usual fence straddling mush about “superseding” Obamacare. But that “supersession” process would take a lot of wrangling and a lot of time and has a very uphill roll.

Edison might vote against his carbon lamp if he discovered the tungsten lamp.
