The three Republican candidates looking to challenge Democratic Senator Kirsten Gillibrand in November are set to face each other tonight on NY1.

Congressman Bob Turner, George Maragos, and Wendy Long will debate on a special weekend edition of "Inside City Hall" [at 7P Eastern, Sunday, 17Jun12]

TOPICS: Politics/Elections; US: New York
KEYWORDS: gillibrand; primary; senate; turn
I attended a fund raiser yesterday morning for Congressman Turner (remember, he replaced Anthony Weiner in a special election last September 2011). I learned about tonight's debate. NY1 is available to Time Warner Cable customers only :-(

The segment will be repeated at 10P Eastern.

Turner is the favorite in the primary a week from Tuesday. His poll numbers have him with roughly as much support as the other two combined.

Wendy Long already has the Conservative line.

If Turner wins the Republican primary, the GOP and Conservatives will be split, and any chance to beat Gillibrand is ZERO. If Turner wins, is there any way, Long can step down and let Turner have the Conservative line? That is his only chance, having both lines.

Once the primary is finished (vote on Tuesday, 26Jun) the Republicans and Conservatives will negotiate a settlement — by the time November comes around, the two lines will have the same name.
