Lamar Smith: Obama's amnesty for illegal immigrants is against the law
The Christian Science Monitor ^ | June 15, 2012 | Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX) Chairman, House Judiciary Committee.

Posted on 06/15/2012 5:59:52 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

It’s said that desperate times call for desperate measures. But in these dismal economic and political times, the Obama administration has called for unlawful measures that grant amnesty to potentially millions of illegal immigrants.

Today, Janet Napolitano, secretary of Homeland Security, announced immunity from deportation for illegal immigrants who were brought to the United States before they turned 16 and who are younger than 30 – among other criteria. They can apply for a two-year work permit that can be renewed indefinitely.

The decision is not just a breach of faith with the American people. It blatantly ignores the rule of law that is the foundation of our democracy.

In an interview with Univision television earlier this year, President Obama said that he can’t just “waive away the laws that Congress put in place” and that “the president doesn’t have the authority to simply ignore Congress and say, ‘We’re not going to enforce the laws that you’ve passed.’”

But ignore Congress and the Constitution is exactly what the president has done – and this isn’t the first time. Throughout the past three years of his administration, Mr. Obama has waived applying several of our immigration rules and has refused to enforce other immigration laws....

While we chew our finger nails to the bone and pull all our hair out over Obama’s illegal chicanery, just remember none, absolutely none of this was necessary if he had been disqualified in the first place under Article II of the U.S. Constitution. All I can say is the American people sure have it coming to them for being so absolutely brain dead. Unfortunately, those of us who were more perceptive also find ourselves in the same steaming kettle of beezzlenut oil.

This is Romney’s latest reaction to Zer0’s illegal amnesty solution:

“I believe the status of young people who come here through no fault of their own is an important matter to be considered, and should be solved on a long term basis so they know what their future would be in this country,” Romney said after a campaign stop in Milford, New Hampshire.

“I think the action that the president took today makes it more difficult to reach that long term solution because an executive order is, of course, a short term matter and can be reversed by subsequent presidents,” Romney said.

“I would like to seek legislation that deals with this issue and I happen agree with Marco Rubio as he looked at, considered this issue, he said that this is an important matter that we have to find a long term solution,” Romney said.

This matter, I believe, is a delicate matter because it puts Romney in a position to be beat up by the race card. It is a very calculated strategy that distracts from the core issue: the economy. It is that economy that would benefit people of all races with employment.

One thing that I learned from a conversation between Newt and Hannity on the radio show yesterday is that Mitt is very open to new ideas. Newt said that he has never seen a candidate who is so open to those who have a good solution to a problem. I am hoping that Mitt will take this latest illegal action by der Zer0 and, through good input from fellow citizens, put this issue in the win column. He should use it as an illustration of why Zer0 has been such an incompetent president.

I hope Mitt at least tells the nation that it should have never been taken out of the Constitutional framework and the proper method is to take such actions through the legislative process. By Zer0’s improper executive action, it opens up huge problems and unintended consequences that will create havoc around the nation. The biggest is the magnet effect which Mitt should take issue with loud and clear. The other thing is that the documentation process will be compromised and controls thrown out the window. I also see this as a back door method to add more illegals to the voter base who will automatically vote Democrat. And, finally, with the high unemployment, what we don’t need is an increased population of illegals pushing for jobs that citizens so desperately need.

Given he started with that in 2009, he was not desparate then. His approval ratings were higher than today. He still had some all of his supporters. That changed after Obamacare, and the slow “recovery” with no jobs etc.

What’s truly disgusting to me is it takes him going this far for the GOP or freakin anybody to give a rat’s behind?
I mean really-how can they stand to be mocked every single day?
Don’t these politicians feel absolutely USELESS and MEANINGLESS now?
Why do WE need THEM?
How will they explain to us, why they DID nothing-not words-but ACTION to get rid of this monster?

But they impeached over a BJ and a stained dress? I guess getting caught having sex in the OO is a LOT worse than breaking law after law and endangering our country in ways we can only imagine...

So, to all you GOP politician’s or their flunkies reading this:

If we can’t get rid of him, we WILL get rid of YOU-so it’s your choice. He will do everything in his power (or not-laws don’t stop him) to STEAL this election...he has a plan in place and will do whatever it takes-he does not plan on losing, that’s why he doesn’t care what he says or does. It is beginning and it really is up to you how it ends....

Actually, this is de facto total amnesty. The onus will be on some hapless prosecutor to prove that an alien was NOT brought here as a child. Since these are undocumented, they don’t have to prove anything. Innocent until proven guilty; no documentation means no way to prove inelliibility. Case closed. Welcome to The Neuvo United States.

There is the certainty that this is not just the nose of the camel under the tent, the sucker is halfway in. Expect the gross expansion of this tiny exception to mushroom into open borders and open season on American prey. I'll believe the weeding out of criminals when I actually see it.

I hope Mitt...

Hope? Haven't we had enough Hope & Change to last us a lifetime?

You'd better learn to live with constant and unrelenting disappointment from Mitt Romney. He never was, and never will be a conservative. Not even close.

I’ve been saying all day what you have so well enumerated.

If this is not impeachable nothing is.

Nothing is impeachable.

“Newt said that he has never seen a candidate who is so open to those who have a good solution to a problem.”

That comes from a person with EXCELLENT MANAGEMENT SKILLS.

There is no such thing as “my Way or the Highway, but once a decision is made, everybody better be on board.

I know Zer0 is evil. Romney is still open for my final conclusion.

This amnesty thing is very evil because it uses the office of the President of secure a segment of the electorate. I heard on tonight’s news tonight a teenager to parents who are illegals. The teen said that he hopes Zer0 is reelected because his future would be unpredictable with the Republicans. This tells me the effect Zer0 wanted to set in place. This teen will make sure his parents vote for Zer0 as well as their neighbors and friends. This also will cause a wave of more illegals who want to take advantage of an entitlement they didn’t have before. And for the DemonRATs, it will bring new voters who want to make sure Zer0 is reelected.

A man with the “ends justifies the means” value system is a threat to our way of life. We cannot let him be reelected.

He wasn't impeached for the stain, he was impeached for lying to a Federal judge!!!! You're buying the lie.

If congress or the scotus is going to sit back and do nothing about this, what is to prevent Obama from signing an EO giving himself another four (or more) years?

Seriously!

The first logical arguments to my statement would be “Well, that is an unconstitutional power grab.” Well, yes it is, but so is nearly EVERYTHING ELSE he has done and nobody seems to have the nads to say or do anything about it.

They can apply for a two-year work permit that can be renewed indefinitely.

Its not citizenship they are offering but rather lifelong occupier status?
With all the priveliges, and then some, of citizenship?
Like a “free” education and “free” healthcare and Voting priveliges.

In Congress Democrats tried to pass the Dream act Amnesty for illegals. Republicans in congress blocked it and killed this act.We all worked hard and long to defeat this Dream act because it was Amnesty for illegals. Now this Marxist, Monster dictator Obama passes what was in the Dream act with a decree. Unbelievable. And the media is covering for it.

I know that;I didn’t buy into anything...he was impeached for lying about the sex et al.....better?

My point is THAT-the lying about “sexual relations with that woman” ETC compared to THIS- unlawful anti American activity-what is happening NOW- shouldn’t this be at impeachment level?

What will it take?
