American Hunters/Gun Control

Interesting slant on things AMERICA'S HUNTERS --- Pretty Amazing! The world's largest army... America 's hunters! I had never thought about this...
A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:
There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin . Allow me to restate that number:
600,000 Over the last several months, Wisconsin's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world.
More men under arms than in Iran .
More than France and Germany combined.
These men deployed to the woods of a single American state, Wisconsin, to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed.
That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan's 700,000 hunters, all of whom have now returned home safely. Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world. And then add in the total number of hunters in the other 46 states. It's millions more.
The point?
America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.
Hunting.... it's not just a way to fill the freezer.. It's a matter of national security.
That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed.
Food for thought, when next we consider gun control. Overall it's true, so if we disregard some assumptions that hunters don't possess the same skills as soldiers, the question would still remain... what army of 2 million would want to face 30, 40, or 50 million armed citizens?
(IF YOU AGREE, AS I DO, PASS IT ON, I FEEL GOOD THAT I HAVE AN ARMY OF MILLIONS WHO WOULD PROTECT OUR LAND AND I SURE DON'T WANT THE GOVERNMENT TAKING CONTROL OF THE POSSESSION OF FIREARMS) For the sake of our freedom, don't ever allow gun control or confiscation of guns.

Foreign invasion, as a threat, is secondary to domestic corruption.

One thing to note however.
Just because someone is a hunter and uses guns to hunt, doesn’t make them a pro-gun person. I’ve been yelled at by hunters for being an NRA member, a 2nd Amendment Foundation member, a GOA member or a vocal gun rights supporter.
I’ve had a number of hunters tell me that there is NO REASON for anyone to own a military style gun.
So I know first hand that pro-hunting is not equal to pro-gun.

"A new study funded by NSSF and carried out by Southwick Associates has found that the pool of American hunters is much larger than previously thought." Add to those hunters the number of people who DON"T hunt, but are well armed for "defense of themselves and their own state". I are one. I "really" need to see about CCW, though.

Meanwhile, California legislature members are trying to bring more gun control bills to Sacramento and a Mountain lion was shot in DOWNTOWN Santa Monica today.

From the following article, it appears there are almost 22 million licensed hunters in the US. According to the linked study, deer were the most commonly hunted animal, with 83% of hunters purchasing deer tags/licenses.
This means that at least 18 million Americans own or have access to, have ammo for, and can shoot, relatively high powered rifles, the vast majority of which are center fire models with scopes. Or to put it another way, America can field almost 18 million "snipers" at a moment's notice. And if all of them keep just 2 twenty round boxes of ammo on average, that's almost 750 million rounds of high power center fire ammo in American hunters' hands at any given time. And that doesn't even begin to account for the number of semi-auto rifles like ARs, AKs, etc, shotguns, and handguns in the hands of both hunters and non hunters.

A new study funded by NSSF and carried out by Southwick Associates has found that the pool of American hunters is much larger than previously thought.
This report estimates that 21.8 million Americans hunted at least once over the past five years. Previous estimates have shown over 14 million youth and adults hunt each year, but not all hunters take to the field every year.
Conducted in partnership with 17 state wildlife agencies, the study assessed license sales patterns and found that 78 percent of the U.S. hunters who bought a license in a given year also purchased one again the following year. By examining purchasing patterns over multiple years, it was determined that for every two hunters in the field this year, one is taking the year off.
This discovery can lead to major conservation and economic benefits. If many casual hunters (hunters that do not purchase a hunting license on an annual basis) can be converted into annual license buyers, a major benefit would be realized.

Mostly, they’re not here.
I do lots of work for Iranian clients. Most of them love this country and are just as concerned about freedom and national security as we here on FR are.
All of them think Obama is a disgusting buffoon.
I don’t mean to discount the idea that infiltrators are coming across the border, but even some of them are finding freedom too desirable to carry out any disruption.

I have been working with the Iranian community here since the ‘91 Oakland fire, and find that they came here for the right reasons for the most part.
They are motivated, productive advocates for free enterprise to the hilt.
