Lawrence Anthony was a conservationist and author known as "The Elephant Whisperer". In 1999, he rescued and rehabilitated a group of wild South African elephants who were deemed dangerous. And the animals appear to remember what he did for them: when Anthony passed away March 2nd, a group of elephants visited his house in the South African KwaZulu for a two-day vigil, according to his family.

The story and the video were both cool.
Thanks to Kartogapher for the wonderful post. I read every word of it and watched the video. Well worth my time.
Has to be a spiritual link here
Thank you. I believe that too and have for years told my husband that animals are spiritual and I will always and forever believe it no matter what anyone else says to the contrary.
Elephants are amazing.
I saw an IMAX film on a special refuge for elephants and they are much closer to humans in terms of emotion, communication and intelligence than we give credit for.

God did not make animals to be separate from Man. He made them to be aside us.
The moment we loved a pet (cloers than family sometimes), God was there. He would never discard our love for our beloved animal friends (be they dogs, cats, gerbils, horses or elephants). God is omnipotent. He can and will reunite us with our beloved animal friends in the bye and bye.
The related YouTube video about the elephants that were reunited after 20 years is quite touching. The interview with the caretaker regarding the chain and captivity brought tears to my eyes.
It wouldn’t be Heaven without pets.
In case anyone is unaware of it, the book Modoc is a great true story of an elephant. I also enjoyed the book, When Elephants Weep. They are incredible animals.
Animals are not fallen, just under the curse from the flood. They can’t wait for the King’s return and the restoration of earth. I personally think “natural instinct” is simple obedience to the Creator.
When I die a herd of Mule Deer will come and burn down my house - or maybe not. They still have some relatives in the freezer.
They have big brains, elephants. So it’s not surprising that their cognitive & emotional development is in some respects human-like, though of course not fully human.
For sure????
