The GOP Betrayal Of Palin and the TEA Party
5-8-2012 | vanity

The GOP attacks on Palin.

After the Inauguration of Obama, the first time that the manhood of the GOP was called into question was the Stimulus package.  Rick Santelli was so upset with it that he issued his now famous diatribe calling for something like a national tea party.  A long simmering emotion within conservative ranks now had a name.

Meanwhile, back in Alaska, Sarah Palin's return to work involved dealing with these stimulus package issues, and she did what she felt that she must.  She took those which were appropriate, but turned away those that weren't.  This was a well-laid trap, as Obama's minions in Alaska were in cahoots with the state's GOP to sandbag her anyways.  The idea of her turning away the "Free Money" from DC was a bridge too far for these lawmakers who still were miffed about not getting their bridge to nowhere.  They started the barrage of lawsuits, designed to ruin her family financially and end her career.

But she chose the path less followed, and resigned the office with her character intact.  While she went silent for a length of time, her political gravestone was being carved by the haters of DC, who knew from the start that she was a visceral threat to their cherished view of themselves as our betters.

Like a bolt of lightning, her "Death Panels" op-ed hit the political scene.  It energized the TEA Party movement by giving them a bold leader and a name to the bill that they feared and loathed.  It showed the GOP that they could fight against Obama, and that it was really the only honorable thing to do. She then consistently showed leadership by backing a series of candidates to challenge the establishment in DC, both within the party and then in the General Election. For this, the Bush Family laid several traps designed to deny her the victories that she'd achieved, but to hang some losses on her that had been achieved by bipartisan cooperation specifically to beat Joe Miller, Christine O'Donnell and Sharron Angle. This was what she had to deal with in the period of time leading up to the tragic shootings in Tucson.  A party looking to ruin her, at the first opportunity.

When the 2010 mid-term elections had ended, the TEA Party and Sarah Palin had scored a momentous victory against the Washington DC establishment.  But the establishment had a counter-attack in the works.  While the Government prepared to return to business in January 2010, Barack Obama was in deep trouble.  He had gotten his Health Care Bill passed, but the cost to the Democrat Party was severe.

His big hope was a GOP that would be afraid to confront him.  In this hope, he had a willing dupe in the John Boehner-led House.  Boehner made it pretty clear from the start that one of the first orders of business was to co-opt the TEA Party, and they set about that task immediately.

Meanwhile, a terrible twist of fate meant a golden opportunity for Obama and the GOP establishment to unite in opposition to Palin and the TEA Party, and the threat that they represented.  Deranged leftist Jared Loughner shot up a campaign rally for Congresswoman Gabby Giffords in Tucson one Saturday Morning, and the opportunity to destroy Sarah Palin was there for her opponents to seize.

It was in the message she had sent to her supporters after the Health Care Bill's passage, extolling them to "Not Retreat, but Reload", and showing the 20 districts that the GOP should target as 2010 seats to turn GOP.  While it takes dishonesty of monumental proportions to blame Palin, the blame game was on,led by Obama, the press, but most notably the lack of defense by the GOP.

Then when she defended herself, the theme that she had not paid ample respect to Jewish sensitivity by declaring that she, the TEA Party and Talk Radio had been victims of a cruel "Blood Libel", which was quite clearly the case.

The GOP went about spreading the meme that she was now toxic. When Sarah tested the waters of the GOP race for 2012, the reaction of the GOP establishment was furious.  They constantly were on the lookout for a replacement to her that would diminish her clout with the conservatives, and a steady parade of pretenders were trotted out, had their moment of glory atop the polling, and then lost that glory whenever serious scrutiny came their way.

Meanwhile, she had the press eagerly combing through 24,000 pages of her e-mails that were made public by a FOIA request searching for dirt, and it came up with nothing but proof of what a fine Governor she'd been. Then, in a field in Iowa, she delivered perhaps the most important speech of her career so far.  The ramifications of which we see today, as the GOP has declared her to be toxic, and warned everyone to stay away while they destroy her.

She questioned the ethics of anyone in DC who participates in "Pay for Play", and this inclusion of the GOP meant that although she was honest, she could not be trusted to look after the GOP' pet projects and revenue streams.  Moreover, her followers would need to be dissuaded from listening to her, and corralled back onto the GOP ranch, eager to work hard for whoever the Party deemed the next Reagan. The Joe McGinness book, the "Game Change" movie, etc were all part of a coordinated effort to destroy her by a non-stop attack on anything and everything that she did. Quickly followed by the line that "Although we love her, she's just too polarizing", while doing nothing to defend her, and in fact often fanning the flames of the attacks themselves. The attackers all seem to have a common thread, and that is their roots are in the Bush administration in some way or another.

The day of Oct 5th 2011, she made an appearance on the Mark Levin radio show and shocked us all.  But truthfully, she was only facing up to the fact that she knew she could not count on the GOP to have her back, and she would not play under the terms that they would demand of her.

So now we await her next move.  She has made her positions quite clear, and most conservatives are in agreement with her.  She has an army of supporters who'd love to follow her into battle.

And she has both the Republican Party and the Democrat Party united by a fear of everything that she represents, and a wish that she would listen to Barbara Bush and go back to Alaska and stay there.

I would love to hear Gov Palin at the convention and while on the podium, review what conservatives stand for, then state that the GOP has left her and does not want her vote. As such, and being a person of principles, she will aquest to the GOP wishes and will accept the VP slot of the Constitution party if offered.

FLASHBACK:

The McCain/Palin ticket was up ++4 to 10 pts
in some polls, days prior to Election 2008.
So rather than helping the GOP, Romney and
TeamROMNEY and the RNME (Republican National Media Establishment)
decided …to attack Gov. Palin to throw Election2008.

Romney, and the Van der Sloot RNME RINOs for Obama in 2008

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers…
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide…
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
… aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.

"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off ….hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

It's not just Etchasketch, the entity we have been referring to as the Establishment doesn't seem to back Republicans either ~ so it's not just Conservative Republicans but the other kind too.

Somehow we've ended up in a disconnect between the old money men behind the former Presidential Wing of the Republican Party and the Party itself.

Now that doesn't make sense at all. We have had control of Congress for a number of years since Eisenhower so at some point it makes sense to move the Blue Hairs out of the commanding heights and replace them with Republicans with a broader understanding of legitimate politics.

Now, back to Etchasketch, I"m not sure he even knows any Republicans. He messes up all the time on issues where the Republican common knowledge is you don't do that ~ whatever it is.

I"d like to see him come up with names of real Republicans he's participated with in politics. I bet a decent interrogation (maybe even without waterboarding technology at hand) would reveal an emptiness of understanding that'd defy imagination.

This ol'boy, if he wants to win, is going to have to dump his campaign staff now. Maybe go to school with Sarah Palin for a couple of weeks ~ with her 'splaining things.

As long as you're going to the polls and voting in the down ticket races. I'm thinking that I'll vote for Virgil Goode myself.
