Alicia Castro tried to pull Argentina's immediate neighbours into the dispute, claiming UK diplomatic and business relations could be damaged if the islands were not handed over to Buenos Aires.
She said Las Malvinas Argentina's name for the Falklands would be better off if they cut their ties with the UK.

I agree. If Argentina refuse to buy, then I'll offer to pay for the lease of the Falklands for the next 99 years. Then Argentina can claim the Falklands by 2111.
Didn't they learn their lesson back in 1982?
Reminds me of that age-old adage: "the more things change, the more things stay the same."
That was until they discovered oil...
From what I have read, there are NO Argentinians living there, and those people who do live there (some 3,000 odd folks) want to remain with Britain. I guess the Argentine government is in trouble and is prepared to loose another Cruiser to the British.
Spot on. Hence the stealing of Spanish corporations. Bolivia got into the game too last week.
Argentina has also gone full blown protectionism and cronyism, which is hitting their economy hard also.
The leaders of Argentina refused to repatriate their own war dead, even though Britain offered free transport. Britain provided all the deceased with full military honors. Argentina is using their graves as pawns in this political theater. Disgraceful...
“those people who do live there (some 3,000 odd folks) want to remain with Britain”
Nothing odd about that.
They already have Obama calling the Islands the Malvinas. He doesn’t represent all Americans when he takes that tack but that’s not what the world sees. Soon every 3rd world nation in the UN will be clamoring for England to give them up and if Obama is still in office,God forbid,he will come out and say something stupid about sanctions.
Cronyism has been there since at least Peron. They’ve defaulted on their debt twice. They don’t really care what others think. As i said Bolivia is in their camp and there’s always the specter of Venezuela which has purchased arms from Russia. I know that they likely won’t be able to use them effectively but if they’re powerful enough they may not need be all that efficient.
With 8.3 to as high as 60 billions barrels os oil sitting under the island the Brits aren’t going anywhere soon!
Apparently so.
They are finding oil & gas deposits in the waters around the Falkland Islands & the Argentines are to stupid to make a bussiness deal .
Hint for the Argie idiots , exploiting the new petrolem discoveries means you have to have a equipment .
Shipping & staging the stuff from Argentina is a lot more intelligent than shipping from Britian , that means Argentinians get good paying jobs , Argentina gets to build oil refineries & provide support ie everything from Ace bandages to yo-yo’s.
The Argentine economy gets jumpstarted & nobody gets shot .

On the other hand, Argentina's intransigence creates a great opportunity for Uruguay.
