Attention "Anyone But Obama" (ABO) FReepers! If you go to the thread at the link you will will see that JimRob has "declared a truce" and hundreds of ABO FReepers are now vigorously defending their belief, which I share, that the ineligible Marxist Manchurian MUST BE DEFEATED to preserve the Republic...without fear of "the ZOT"! Please consider a DONATION not just to fund renewal of expression and amplification of your ABO views, but let's over-achieve this FReepathon to get JR his new equipment!
IMO, Free Republic and FReepers could be vital in swing states in rallying just enough conservatives to tip the election and prevent our troops from having to salute for even one day longer than necessary an ineligible Marxist committed to destroying the USA !
So, you want somebody to go out there and SUPPRESS our human rights as delivered to us over the deaths of tens of millions of Europeans back in the 1600s?
Are you serious?
This thread could get interesting.
I guess when bishop Romney becomes a god, and creates his own planet and human beings to inhabit it, it will be full of bath houses and steam rooms and little boys will only be allowed to wear chaps until the age of 13. I never knew magic underwear came in code pink.
You mean like this guy right here? What a worthless POS post this is, you should be ashamed of yourself AnTiw1 and yeah, FR has gone way, waaaaaay, waaaaaaaaay down the hill...
“I am really tired of hearing the hatred spewed concerning other beliefs if different than some of these bigots.”
You mean like the bigots that inform people that the republican presidential candidate sees the white house as a stepping stone to godhood?
While you're at it...give us some examples of this bigotry.
So I guess...from your point of view, all religions are equal in your eyes. Muslims, Christians, Hindu's, Satanists, J.W.'s, Buddists, Mormons, etc...etc........all the same!!
Oh, I’m not gonna start naming names, they know who they are, and they have gone unchecked for many years.
If you aren’t a Christian, that’s your business. But stop with the screeches of “bigotry” at anyone who doesn’t fall down and compliment a religion that denies Christianity and the Bible. You’re not going to shut anyone up. Get it?
In a way, you prety much hit the nail on the head.
Can you elaborate on what equipment upgrades or replacements are necessary? I contribute about $100/year but might send an extra payment if capital improvements are necessary.
Not saying you have to compliment what others might believe, but to spend hours on end copying and pasting articles demonizing another religion or belief is getting quite tiresome.
Your opinion is no different than millions of left wing Progressives.
Anyone who thinks all of ‘em are the same shur ain’t never gone to a Snake Handler Church Service on Saturday Evening.
Oh, I listed one and named the poster too. Why don’t you look up two posts, and yeah, there’s a bunch of ‘em here.
Now you see what I am getting at and you are a prime example why people are leaving. You ain’t helping a bit.
“Oh, Im not gonna start naming names, they know who they are...”
If you mean the people who think that Joesph Smith was a con-man, feel free to name me.
There are some people, like millions of Jews, who might say the same thing about Jesus.
Hey, you’re the 1 campaigning for the lgbt supporter, not me. You’re the bridesmaid at this gay wedding, sweetheart.
Now tell everyone how you’re the “ true conservative” and I’m a DU plant... if you’re going to mimic your master, you might as well read the whole freaking script.
Next subject: How wearing knee pads for romney means that ethically you are holding the bloody basin for abortionists yourself.
Too much truth for you?
I am not voting for Romney under any circumstances. I do not care who you vote for, but please don’t attack people for refusing to vote for a leftist traitor RINO.
NUTS!
And you wonder why people aren’t donating.
Could be be any stupider? (that’s a rhetorical question)
That isn’t what the post I quoted, said now is it?
http://www.youtube.com/v/Z6QOscKvUjU?version=3&feature=player_detailpage
I’m not campaigning for anyone, you kind hearted christian you.
I am simply voting for Obama’s republican opponent, because there is no other viable choice.
The only truth in your post is the depth of your own hate.
You are a disgrace.
Those of you who won't settle for ABO, I'm listening.
Then please -those who refuse to vote for Romney - don’t attack people who see that defeating Zero is job one, and only by uniting can we do that.
You are so full of it.
Romney didn’t push gay marriage..that was the MA Supreme Court. He fought the lower court ruling, tried to appeal the Supreme court ruling to the USSC, tried to get a compromise bill through the legislature, and even sued the legislature to vote on a constitutional amendment to prevent gay marriage.
His sin was obeying the Supreme Court of his state, just as I expect a President to obey the USSC even if they don’t like it.
On abortion, Romney renounced his pro choice stand, and the $50.00 copay was because of a MA state law that all government subsidized health care had to cover abortions. Abortion was already legal in MA, and Medicaid already covered abortions for low income residents. Private insurers aren’t required to cover abortion under Romneycare.
The abortion rate and the number of abortion providers fell after Romneycare....shouldn’t he get credit for that if you are going to blame him for everything that happened in MA while he was governor?
This stuff is history and can easily be verified, so why keep misrepresenting it? Do you really think people are fooled by this insane hyperbole?
Romney has plenty of faults to criticize him on, but when push comes to shove, you anti-ROmneys always fall back on these gross distortions of his actions on the hottest button issues....abortion and gay marriage.
For you to use those twisted “truths” as weapons against conservatives. trying to save this nation from the clutches of Obama and the Dems, is maddening.
Especially when these accusations pointed at Obama are true!
He’s the one that will facilitate homosexual marriage and push abortions....and you are happily helping him do it.
Shame on you.
A thing can’t be demonized that already demonizes itself.
If certain threads offend and upset you, wouldn’t you be happier avoiding them?
The threads don’t offend me, it is the holier than though attitude from the bigots that offend me.
Don’t pretend Romney is some conservative icon. Don’t bash those who post his true record.
IIRC, JimRob had about $14k budgeted for new equipment (pictures and descriptions were posted comparing the old and new) with half raised in the FReepathon last quarter and the other half to be raised in this quarter.
But JR posted that likely because of the now rescinded ban on ABO expression on FR, donations tanked to the extent that he had to back out the second $7k budgeted for this quarter's FReepathon to a reduced amount.
I am encouraging all FReepers, ABO and FUMR, to DONATE and help get Jim and FR his new equipment! We need FR to be as robust as possible in this campaign. Then go at it in comments and posts to make your case, whether ABO or FUMR, as hundreds of others are now doing at the linked thread at the top of this thread. Please consider a monthly donation, at least for this campaign!
I haven’t seen religious “bigotry”. I’ve seen people post threads with “facts” about Mormonism, if to that, is what you refer.
Myself, I don’t really care too much anymore for the religious “debates” here; I’m not Mormon, I’m Catholic. I could, if I wished, make a case for “bigotry” against my faith too, based on the same phenomena that seems to be occurring against Mormonism. (that there are “facts” posted that pro port to demonstrate Catholicism is false).
The “problem” with fighting against such posts, for both the anti-Catholic and anti-Mormon posts, is a) They are usually posted by the same people and thus rehashing the same points over and over again and b) It truly doesn’t do anything to fight the same people over and over again on a personal level.
That is, I’m never going to convince the same people who are anti-Catholic that they are wrong about their assertions. Thus, I’ve dropped such attempts (for the most part) for the simple reason of not wishing to focus on religion and taking away any hope of political unity. Besides, as I pointed out, it’s really the same people fueling the ongoing criticism of Catholicism here, so on a personal (if not religious level) there are certainly better ways to demonstrate their error than trading posts on a message board.
The same applies to the anti-Mormons. I don’t know why my Mormon FRiends (who seem to have given up and left, or been banned) didn’t get that. A Mormon here can either continue bashing their head against the wall, claiming “bigotry”, accomplishing nothing in the process, or now (given the truce) move forward and post positive things about Romney if they wish. The anti-Mormonism here isn’t going to change (same with the anti-Catholicism). I’ve realized that; I encourage any Mormon who feels “persecuted” to realize the same and move forward.
You are never going to unite people behind a con man.
You will feel a lot better tackling something you can do on this site, such as promoting your local conservative candidates.
That is a very good point. My suggestion would be a policy of no bashing of any religion or lack there of. Attacking some ones faith is the same as a personal attack IMHO.
There you go, religious bigotry right there posted on FR by AnTiw1 today in another thread. And that is by no means the first time I have seen such on this website.
Define bigot, please.
Define holier-than- thou.
I suspect your definitions will approximate those used by liberals. You don’t understand the issue, and nothing said to you will even begin to placate you or open your mind, because you aren’t interested in the POV of those nasty Christians.
You came onto this thread angry, shrill, and screeching-—clearly intending to start something. IMO, you’re a malcontent who simply cannot tolerate a POV which disagrees with your own.
Your problem.
...but when push comes to shove, you anti-ROmneys always fall back on these gross distortions of his actions on the hottest button issues....
Indeed, they are rather transparent. Those are tired and true tactics of Dimocrats, which makes one highly suspicious of anything posted in such a manner.
For my part, I view the anti-Romney posters with great skepticism if they signed up since the 2010 election. Even then, one could see that Romney was almost certain to be the 2012 Republican nominee so it's plausible that committed Dimocrat operatives would plant themselves in any and every conservative forum to poison the discourse even as we are seeing now.
To the Members of the Log Cabin Club of Massachusetts:
I am writing to thank the Log Cabin Club of Massachusetts for the advice and support you have given me during my campaign for the US Senate and to seek the Club’s formal endorsement of my election. The Log Cabin Club has played a vital role in reinvigorating the Republican Party in Massachusetts and your endorsement is important to me because it will provide further confirmation that my campaign and approach to government is consistent with the values and vision of government we share. I am pleased to have had an opportunity to talk with you and to meet many of you personally during your September meeting. I learned a great deal from those discussions and many thoughtful questions you posed.
As a result of our discussions and other interactions with gay and lesbian voters across the state, I am more convinced than ever before that as we seek to establish full equality for America’s gay and lesbian citizens, I will provide more effective leadership than my opponent.
I am not unaware of my opponents considerable record in the area of civil rights, or the commitment of Massachusetts voters to the principle of equality for all Americans. For some voters it might be enough for me to simply match my opponent’s record in this area. But I believe we can and must do better. If we are to achieve the goals we share, we must make equality for gays and lesbians a mainstream concern. My opponent cannot do this. I can and will.
We have discussed a number of important issues such as the Federal Employee Nondiscrimination Act (ENDA), which I have agreed to co-sponsor, and if possible broaden to include housing and credit, and the bill to create a federal panel to find ways to reduce gay and lesbian youth suicide, which I also support. One issue I want to clarify concerns President Clinton’s “don’t ask, don’t tell, don’t pursue” military policy. I believe that the Clinton compromise was a step in the right direction. I am also convinced that it is the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nation’s military. That goal will only be reached when preventing discrimination against gays and lesbians is a mainstream concern, which is a goal we share.
As we begin the final phase of this campaign, I need your support more than ever. By working together, we will achieve the goals we share for Massachusetts and our nation.
Sincerely
W. Mitt Romney
Thank you. I agree with your suggestion on a personal level. It absolutely is true that when one attacks another's faith, one is, in some level, attacking that person personally. That simply can't be avoided.
I do not agree with it on a political level. Defense against personal (religious) offense is not and should not be a guarantee. As much as I would love (on a personal level) to see all the anti-Catholics here banned for all their vitriol, I would never support such an action. (hehe.....I can see some anti-Catholic quoting me saying, "I would love to see all the anti-Catholics banned here..." to support some wild eyed conspiracy theory that all Catholics want to see a return of the Inquisition, without of course quoting the latter portion of that very same sentence; I'd give it about even odds of happening should I dare attempt to return to the religious debates here in force.......< sigh > but I digress)
The reason is simple: If I support suppressing another's opinion, mine surely will be the next to be suppressed.
“So I guess...from your point of view, all religions are equal in your eyes. Muslims, Christians, Hindu’s, Satanists, J.W.’s, Buddists, Mormons, etc...etc........all the same!! “

No, not all the same. Tibetan Buddhism of the Gelugpa Tradition is by far the best.
Don't drop the soap... ;^)
It is the bigot that has a closed mind. They are the ones that don’t understand when someone else has a different perspective. Oh, and the holier than though attitude. Thats simple, If you don’t believe the same way I do you are gonna burn in hell, and then go on to quote some part of scripture to again reinforce what they just said.
Freedom doesn't come free of charge.
Let me be clear: I’m not saying “religious bigotry” doesn’t occur here. I’ve only said I haven’t seen it wrt Mormonism (until now when you pointed it out).
However, I still stand with my original point(s). If I may put it in more blunt terms: As a Catholic, I’ve had it happen to me (my Faith) too. I’ve decided to just suck it up.
To my Mormon FRiends, welcome to the “party”. Move on, post all the pro-Romney threads you wish (given this new truce), just be prepared to suck it up when it comes to the anti-Mormonism you KNOW will be coming. After all, IMO, it’s quite simple to shrug such stuff off, all you need to reply is (if anything) : I didn’t know we were talking about Mormonism; I thought we were talking about politics and a candidate for President.
Believe me, it won’t shut up such religious detraction (you’re going to HAVE to give the “last word” to them), but those lurkers who are reasonable will see who truly wins that “argument”. Trust me.
In the matter of JR calling a truce and giving grudging support to Romney, I believe that he is right. I can’t stand Romney, but he considers himself a Republican and if we can keep a Republican held House and displace enough senators to get a Republican Senstae then we might also have a Republican POTUS to bless any GOP passed legislation.
As for various religions being unwelcome, I can certainly condemn Islam as a hate sect. As for the others, none of them seem to want me and any non-believers in their faith dead.
My wife is Buddhist; a few weeks back I went to the Easter Services at the Buddhist Temple with her. Surprised? I’m not a Buddhist, but I have come to respect the Buddhists quite a bit.
Six years ago, a local Catholic church burned down and their congregation had no place to worship. They asked most of the other churches in the area if they could use their churches for a two hours each Sunday to keep their flock together and conduct services while they raised money to rebuild their church. Every one of the other churches and synagogs in the area turned them down. The Buddhists weren’t even asked, but offered their temple for Sunday mornings for over a year while a new church was built. The Buddhists shifted their own services to the afternoons.
The attacking has gone both ways between ABO and FUMR camps. I am not attacking the FUMR camp at all and never have. I respect the right of conscience of every citizen in making their vote.
The circular firing squad attacking of FReepers by FReepers, including JimRob himself, is requested to be suspended with a TRUCE being declared by JimRob at the linked thread. Some FReepers on this thread appear NOT to have read JR's TRUCE declaration, yet.
To me, respecting the conscience of fellow FReepers includes NOT declaring my own ABO view to be the only Biblical view and NOT declaring the voting intentions of another FReeper to be a vote “for evil.”
I will vote for the candidate who will do the LEAST DAMAGE to what is left of my precious Republic!
I am voting AGAINST the ineligible Manchurian Marxist.
God will ultimately be the judge my vote, not fellow FReepers.
On this thread, I am inviting fellow ABO FReepers in particular to return to posting FReely on FR, as allowed now by JR, and also to return to DONATING.
Already the thread is getting hijacked into a religious flame war over whose vote and whose religion is most righteous. I intended this thread to be about bringing back ABO FReepers and getting DONATIONS up to include the needed equipment so that we all, both ABO and FUMR FReepers, can have the BEST Free Republic platform for this campaign.
Please take a moment today to consider making or increasing your DONATION to FR and consider going monthly! Please?
