Woman Finds Loaded Gun In Newly Purchased Laptop Case(IN barf alert)
tristatehomepage.com ^ | 5 May, 2012 | Ryan Braschler

An Evansville woman makes a shocking discovery after a yard sale purchase. She says all she wanted was a laptop case, but when she opened it she found a loaded handgun inside.

A lot of people find a lot of great deals at yard sales, but when Rhonda Milligan went to the Evansville Christian Life Center sale she got more than she bargained for.

Rhonda Milligan made several stops in her yard sale spree, one of those was here at the Evansville Christian Life Center on Kentucky Avenue. She bought a leather laptop case, but when she got home and opened the bag she was shocked to find a fully loaded revolver.

She says she believes the Christian Life Center was careless and did not check the bag before putting it up for sale. Milligan called police to meet her back at the Center, but by that time the facility was already closed.

She says she hopes sellers will be more careful, and that bargain hunters will take a second look before they buy.

Evansville police declined to comment on the incident on the scene. We also reached out to the Evansville Christian Life Center for comment, but those messages weren't returned.

I could only be so lucky. However, the end result could have turned out bad in the hands of a child. This was a pretty big f up.

Smith & Wesson model 36. Worth about $400.

Lists for $749 new.

Nice find, but you have the risk of it having been used in a crime.

I’d have kept my mouth shut, but that’s just me.

I can’t really blame her for contacting the police. Just have possession of a gun around these parts could lead to a lengthy prison sentence by an eager gun grabbing prosecutor.

This didn't take place in Illinois. Evansville is in Indiana.

Yeap, sounds to me like she got a huge bargain. I'll definitely pay more attention.

I am still hoping to find a very heavy violin case at a yard sale.

Women have been trained by our society to believe guns are EVILLLLLLLL.

Notice this story puts Christian church and guns together in a bad light, and remember how the socialists like obama hate people who cling to guns and Bibles.

if I had a $1 for everything I have ‘misplaced’-ok-lost-in my lifetime, I could pay cash for a sweet, new Miata.

I am the Olympic Champion when it comes to the-”where did I put that?” game....just last night, lost my backscratcher(no, not my husband, but I have lost him in WalMart many times)...I mean how do you lose something that’s over a foot long? (again, not my hubby) You name it, I’ve lost it.

‘Finding something’ is on my To Do List almost everyday; even my To Do List is now on my home page on my laptop because I have even lost that! Honest!

She says she hopes sellers will be more careful, and that bargain hunters will take a second look before they buy.

Sound like perfectly reasonable sentiments to me.

Among other things, it would be potentially possible to buy a bag containing a large quantity of a controlled substance. Always a good idea to look inside first.

Hezus H. Christi....this EBT, EITC Obama voter was crying and distraught over the thought of it! Mamaw who’d probably been on welfare since Red’s baby daddy ran off was also distraught.

Me? I’d have peed my pants when I got home and found it.

This warranted a much stronger BARF alert.

First, I think it is Indiana, not Illinois. The tri-state they speak of is IL, IN, and KY.

BUT...I watched the video and am now ill. Two really ugly (physically and spiritually) old women slapping gums and pointing fingers in mock righteous indignation demonizing a CHARITY. It is a soup kitchen raising money on contributed goods at a yard sale to feed the hungry .....but I am sure come Monday these two ugly toothless skanks will be trolling for lawyers.

The Smith J frame hand gun was at one point owned by a serious gunner. It has one of those aluminum frame/grip wedges...can’t remember the name.

SPECULATION: They planted the gun to leverage a settlement....they looked that swarmy and the emotion is a little over the top for Indiana....which is still a free gun loving state.

The charity will have to say, no...they didn’t search all the items for hidden flame throwers, hand grenades or German war criminals.....the gun will be off paper and untraceable and an undisclosed cash settlement will be had with the group.

OR some innocent gifter (probably a husband whose idiot wife was giving away his stuff) will be embarrassed for letting a loaded handgun loose amongst all these skanks’ children....gasp.

Fortunately, Indiana has little in the way of law that the gifter need be concerned about. The “keep guns from kids” statute has a “knowingly” clause that would save the gifter’s bacon on this one.

The media however, will howl for blood.

She says she believes the Christian Life Center was careless and did not check the bag before putting it up for sale.

And Rhonda was just as careless. She couldn't tell the difference in weight between an empty laptop case and one with a loaded revolver? The difference would be aalmost two pounds if the thing were loaded.

I suspect that she had an inkling there was something in the case when she bought it but kept her mouth shut. Then she got a nice surprise when she got home.

“...I mean how do you lose something that’s over a foot long? (again, not my hubby)”

Good thing you added the last part. You would have women looking for your lost hubby.

Sheesh...I guess it jumped out of the case and chased her around the yard trying to eat her. They’ll do that.

Wish I could find something like that.

The video is amazing.

"(sobbing).... oh God... (sobbing)..... I was so scared.... not only (sob) was it a "gun".... but (weep weep weep) it was fully loaded..... (breaks down in tears)......"

And the dramatization of when she found it..... picking it up with a steel rod in the guard, careful to keep her distance, as if some of the gun-ness might rub off on her.

Given the murder rate in IL, she probably should have called the police. Gun Control states/cites have lots of unsolved murders.
