Exceptionally well said.

We have lost one battle, the fight for the Republican nomination.

Three fights remain, and we can win them.

First, we can be instrumental in electing Conservative members of the Senate and House. The Senate is in play, the House, very questionable if Obama wins, coattails, et al.

Secondly, we need to be seen as visible supporters of the most Conservative candidate WHO CAN WIN THE GENERAL ELECTION in every race possible. That support must go beyond FR and into our local voting communities. We already know how FReepers think. We need to reach the MORs and The Great Unwashed. This gives us IOUs post-November.

Third, We need to support Jim and FR with our $. With your newly reinvigorated leadership, Jim, I'm back to donating.

Remember, Romney is FAR from the perfect candidate, but perfect can be the enemy of very good. American can survive 4 years of Romney, especially with FR there as a nudge.

She cannot survive 4 more years of an unfettered Obama.

FReegards.

A very wise stance, IMO.

I have only been posting for a few months, but I lurked for three years, and I love this site very much. It’s so great to have a place to come to where you can read an article, scroll down to the comments, and find at least one person who has already said exactly what I’m thinking.

Folks, please, for love of Free Republic, as a peace offering, join me in making a donation.

If I were you, I would seriously start working on porting FR to run on one of the cloud services. This would resolve any issues with unexpected costs due to failing hardware, as well as (assuming your application is written correctly) provide you with extra capacity when it is needed during peak times.

Dear Jim Robinson,

“To knock off the infighting on FR and concentrate on electing conservatives instead. I don’t know about others, but I personally cannot vote for Romney, but I will turn out and vote for every conservative on my ballot.”

Okay. I understand your view. That's where I was when it looked, early in ‘08, like Giuliani might take the nomination. This time, the line in the sand that I draw is just a micron beyond where Romney is, so I can (barely) vote for him. And in that I can, I must, as the alternative is the Kenyan anti-Christ.

But, again, forgive me for the need for a little more specificity. Does this mean that folks may generally say pro-Romney things? Argue for Romney (civilly, of course)? Engage in the sort of behavior in favor of Romney that posters could in favor of other candidates, like Santorum (for whom I actually voted in my own Maryland primary, to absolutely no avail), Gingrich or Perry?

Where are the boundaries?

I ask so that folks can know, and maybe fewer bannings might result.

Thanks,

sitetest

Considering the free hand Barry and his czars have worked with without much of a peep from the House I’m sure as hell not putting my faith in them suddenly saying enough is enough.

I think part of the problem was there were too many conservatives running, and some of them were not quite ready.

Santorum was probably the best, but he didn;t have enough money.

Romney is loaded, the Establishment swine who backed him are loaded and they attacked conservatives via PACs while Romney was able to present himself as above personal attacks.

The mainstream media - both liberal and FOX News were i the sack for Romney for different reasons.

Jim is right about fighting for other offices. We can;t take over a party from the top down. We need to run conservatives at the local levels - County Committees, local offices, etc. In this way we can leverage the establishment swine out from within. The lower levels of elected office are also the proving grounds for new fresh conservative candidates.

But our bigger problem, in my mind, is what is going on in the “educational” system. American Children are being taught a revised, biased, false story about western civilization and America. They are leaving schools with no knowledge of what America is, and how we evolved to become the world's first and most successful democratic Republic. And so, they become ready tinder for minds like Obama’s.

I understand how many conservatives can't support Romney. I hate the guy. But I don't want the Marxist Muslim Fraud to have another four years to destroy our country. I could be wrong. Maybe it is better Obama succeeds again rather than have a RINO be elected. But some of us thought that way when that other Turkey McCain, won the primary back in 2008 and that gave us CAp, more corporate buy-outs, Obama Care, a reduced Military, a war on Christianity, and a foreign policy which is anti-American.

I will hold my nose and vote for Romney. But I will work hard to elect real conservatives on the local and Congressional levels.

Here in my state of New Jersey, there is a battle going on between Leonard Lance, a mainstream establishment RINO who bills himself as a “fiscal conservative” yet voted in favor of cap and trade and IGNORED an NRA questionnaire.

He is being challenged by a REAL conservative for that congressional seat, David Larsen

http://www.davidlarsenforcongress.com/

I urge New Jersey conservatives to support him with a vote, money and time.

ALSO, its important to get CONSERVATIVES elected to those County Committee seats. They are the hidden government and power base of the GOP party.

In this post "http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2725798/posts"

You said: "I'd rather shut the place down than be involved in any effort to install abortionist/gay rights pushing RINOS like Romney or Giuliani into the White House!!"

Does the truce change this stance?

You know you will always have my support, Mr. R. On this issue in particular, I think you are right on......

I’m not sure what the “fight” has been about. The way I see it, we’re screwed in this presidential election. There is simply no choice.

I know some think that not voting for Romney is a tacit vote for obammy—but I don’t see it that way.

I will vote the down ticket, picking as many conservatives as possible. As far as the presidency goes, there’s not a whole lot of difference between the two top candidates. I guess I could vote for Ron Paul-—he looks better when he’s compared to O and R.......

I despise Romney for everything that he stands for. He is a liberal, a liar, an elitist, and someone who will say and do anything to be president.

I despise Obama more because we have seen the evil that he is and know the evil that he plans to do given another four years.

I was not going to vote for McCain until he put Palin on the ticket. I cannot honestly say that I will be able to vote for Romney.

What I can say is that I want Obama gone with every ounce of my existence. If Obama gets a second term, there will be another civil war in this country. Tensions are high now, just wait until the American patriot is finally pushed to that breaking point.

A President Romney can be held in check with a continuing republican majority in the House and by taking back the Senate.

If you can't vote for Mitt you are faced with a dilemma - vote directly for Barry or vote for Barry by not voting? What to do?

To knock off the infighting on FR and concentrate on electing conservatives instead. I don’t know about others, but I personally cannot vote for Romney, but I will turn out and vote for every conservative on my ballot. Regardless of the outcome of the presidential race, we must build on our majorities at the local state and federal levels and we must retake the senate.

I'm FULLY on board with that and sincerely hope this brings the purges and putsches to an abrupt end!

It's far more important that we re-unite and live to fight another day.

Absolutely. We can turn to George Washington and the American Revolution for inspiration. He managed to hold the resistance together through seemingly impossible times to "fight another day" and eventually defeat a powerful enemy.

Yea! Well said. The coequal tasks are to defeat Obama and to elect as many conservatives as possible to every other position.
