I'm not going to click thru to the NYT, but from the tone of the excerpt I'm guessing that the clueless author of the article never considered that for more than 80% of black voters, the President's race is what matters as far as casting their vote.

When liberals say this, they are lying and THEY KNOW THEY ARE LYING. A simple thought experiment is sufficient to establish this. Suppose we had a credible black candidate, who hated abortion and homosexuality, upheld the 2nd amendment, abhorred communism, supported realistic measures to get out of debt, wanted to secure the border, etc.... how would all these "racists" vote. ALL LIBERALS know that 100% of the Tea Party patriots would vote FOR such a black man.
Our problem with Obama is that he is IN THE WRONG, on every issue of substance. The accusation of "racism" against us, for opposing him, is NEVER made in good faith, it is ALWAYS a conscious intentional slander, made because the liberals do not have, and know they do not have, any actual substantive arguments.
I have lost all patience with liberals. I live in Steubenville. Jefferson County went Republcan in 2008 for the first time in decades. We are a very heavy Democrat county, full of pro-union people who think all our problems will be solved by electing Dems. We are also the county seet and Ohio gets better welfare benefits than West Virginia so we have tons of welfare people here. In fact, I can’t even go grocery shopping on the first of the month. What the gentlemen are saying is quite true. However, it was racist Dems who did not vote for obama. Republicans were voting against socialism.
