Conservatives will be enthusiastic about the 2012 election, but only in a negative way because of grim danger of a second Obama term. Kerry, Gore, and Clinton were crummy politicians, but compared to the quiet malevolence of Obama, those Democrats were Boy Scouts. The problem with conservatives is that since Reagan left office, we have had nothing to vote for; George H. Bush, Bob Dole, George W. Bush, and John McCain treated conservatives like barely tolerated stepchildren.
Will the Republican presidential campaign this time be as condescending and dull? Mitt Romney, almost unnoticed, has done something no other Republican nominee has done before, at least since 1964: Romney has openly described himself as a "conservative" -- indeed, as "severely conservative." Reagan did not do this, and Goldwater really did not, either. They espoused conservative values, but neither man went out of his way to describe himself as a conservative. Romney has also explicitly attacked the media and the "vast left-wing conspiracy" (Ann Coulter reminds us that Romney, for Massachusetts, was conservative.)
Romney's public declarations suggest a candidate who has grasped that America is involved in an ideological civil war and who has determined to take sides. Beyond that, the scornful treatment of Ann Romney by the media may have touched a deep nerve in the otherwise profoundly sedate Romney. The campaign may reveal this Romney more.
But there is one sure way in which Romney could seal the deal with conservatives: if on June 6, 2012, Scott Walker survives his recall election, Romney should choose Walker as his running mate. There would be no clearer way for Romney to signal the direction of his campaign. The Wall Street Journal has called this recall election "the most important non-presidential election of the decade." Conservatives already view the recall election as absolutely...

Romney and Conservative just don’t seem to go together....
Mitt is worrisome. He flip flops and a look at the underlying Mormonism he pledges himself to shows a “God” that also flip flops. Will his “God” who told him to be conservative today tell him to back off of that tomorrow?
Think it would be a good idea to start adding a BARF alert to posts like this..
I can’t do again what I did last time, voting for a ticket hoping with every fiber of my being that the POTUS would up and die the day after the Inauguration.
Amen and Amen
Walker wouldn’t be a bad choice, but I still think this is where we have to have Sarah. Walker would fade into the background and wouldn’t do much to keep Mitt in line. Sarah would be part of the process and she would definitely keep Romney on the straight and narrow.
Sarah would put Romney in jail if he got off the straight and narrow...
Never happen.
Sorry, but Walker is not Romney’s to take.
I’m not sure what Romney is saying there either. Conservative as in conservative cult to impose on America? What is it? Or is it a personal conviction of his he freely chooses and believes to be an asset for America?
We are living in a day and age when they prefered they spanky looking slaves than being with the free, I fear. And Romney does not strike me as an admirer of the conservative and the free, so to speak, as much as a worshiper of the service thereof.
Turn his delegates over to Palin/West?
Coulter’s statement that Romney was “conservative for Massachusetts” is meaningless, since Karl Marx would be considered conservative in Massachusetts.
Reagan, Goldwater, and the others didn’t have to call themselves “conservatives”. Actions speak louder than words.
Back out of the race the he doesn't belong in anyway.
This is too much like "not having a gun when you need it". People are going to the drawer and it (the conservative) isn't there. Meanwhile, the Zombies are smashing-in the front door. Yet, just outside in the garage (might as well be in Alaska) we have an AR-15 and two thirty round magazines but we can't get to them because the media made it off-limits. The media has made it off-limits. THE F9CKING MEDIA HAS MADE IT OFF LIMITS! I'm too pissed to continue. Go Gorilla.
Wrong. He was SOCIALIST in MA. What he likes most of ‘his accomplishments’ Romneycare.
He can drop off the ticket. Go away, Willard, and don’t ever come back, you lying, Socialist scumbag.
Do I have to spend my summer telling people that I am not voting Liberal?
That would make a good tag! :-)
You are right. If Scott Walker wins his recall election, which I believe he will, he will become an immediate “super star” in Republican Conservative ranks. He does need the VP slot and should not take it. Meanwhile Mitt Romney has tons of very qualified Conservatives, both men & women to choose a “dynamite” VP candidate.
First things, first, however. I urge all Freepers, Republicans and Conservatives to donate cash to the Scott Walker campaign. Although Mr. Walker has broken all records for fundraising in Wisconsin, his win will change the face of our nation. Walker must and will win, if he is funded to the hilt. The life of “free” America is at stake!!! GO WALKER!!!
Some of these really aren’t contradictions (like how Romney felt at different times in his life about being in the service) but others are honest to God flip flops on general policy.
Neither Reagan or Goldwater “went out of their way to describe themselves as conservative”, because THEY didn’t have to try convince anyone.
Get us all roaring drunk?
I wont hold my breath waiting for him to "do" conservative.
Change his party affiliation to the correct one. The Communist party!
Nothing coming out of the Romney Republican camp passes either the laugh or the smell tests.
No like button.
As looney as Ron Paul is, I am almost ready to support him. He seems to be the only candidate that supports America and it’s people.
I’m sorry but I do not think there is any way that Romney can supercharge me.....Is there a way for you? Sad for America but true. He is unreal....nothing real about the guy....
Pick Sarah for VP
What's this "WE" stuff, RiNO tool? You're out here trying to pump up conservatives to support mega-RiNO Willard the Becoming-God, and you talk about "WE" conservatives?
Bruce Walker can KMA, and so can his master, Bishop Willard.
She'll never touch it, and for the same reason neither you nor she would ever serve your family nine-day-old road kill.
Oh, no, I shouldn't think he's deluding himself .... but he sure is working on us.
Okay, I'll say it -- the guy's a liar.
“How Romney can Supercharge Conservatives”
Drop out of the race, move to St. Helena, and take Obama with him.
Dude, that is epic!
Sigh. Conservatives are going to have their work cut out for them no matter who wins in November.
Reagan and Goldwater didn't have to. Because they were. Romney claims to be conservative. He's not.
It's that basic. With Romney, his words mean nothing. His history means everything. And his history sucks.
voting for a ticket hoping with every fiber of my being that the POTUS would up and die the day after the Inauguration.
I didn’t vote for zero in the last election but every day since he won I’ve felt the above...
LoL.
No! Wisconsin can’t afford to give Walker up. His actions there are doing more good nationwide than he possibly could as VP, as long as Romney misuses air.
Romney? Supercharge? How about SUPERLIE. and SUPERBETRAY.
Romney is a stinking, lying LIBERAL whom is only
considered because the GOPe is on its knees to Soros/Romney.
I would not pin our hopes upon the corrupt Wisconsin election system. The Unions have that states elections packed with voter fraud.
Even if the people of Wisconsin had honesty in their hearts their fraud prone elections are not predisposed to express the same.
Walker is a good conservative and a wonderful governor, but victory or defeat in Wisconsin means nothing outside of Wisconsin except how far the left will go to hold onto power.
If Walker survives Wisconsin’s corrupted fraud prone elections Wisconsin will need him a lot more than we do in Washington.
Simply put Fixing Wisconsin is a lot more important than having a good vice president in Washington D.C.
