Politics is an ugly, bloody and muddy business, I have come to learn. Anyone who supported Newt, truly and against all odds, can be proud. Newt said to a very upset supporter in NC today, Sometimes the mountain is bigger than your ability to climb it.

Newt Gingrich is true patriot, who will serve his country in whichever way he can, and in a way only he can.

I am so proud to have been part of this man's abiding effort, and will do whatever he asks going forth.

He never let us down. For me, that means a great great deal.

And because this is the TX Newt Director speaking out, rest assured Governor Perry sought out Newt before endorsing Romney, and would have honored Newt's wishes regarding the timing and endorsement of Romney.

To those who left Newt on the battlefield, when they could have come to his rescue as the Last Conservative Standing, and the list goes on for miles, may God be evident in the coming days.

I know strong individuals who have been crying for hours. I am not a crier, I am a fighter. We will fight again.

Jackie Gingrich posted this several hours ago, it is only 1:04 minutes long. Jackie Gingrich is a lot like her father.

More time now for planning that moon base. I have to think that Ron Paul is the only chance for a conservative victory now. Newt gave it the old college try, but that was the problem, the old college.

What a sick freak. He is even worse than I thought.
Closing his campaign on a communist holiday as some kind of sick tribute. He should be deported to Cuba or some other communist, “paradise.” I wish Allen West would challenge him to a fight, and kick his communist-loving ass.

God’s speed Newt. He would have been a great president. But, he couldn’t persuade the primary voters.

Looks like America will muddle through until we get a real leader up in 2016.

Indeed, Newt would have been a very effective president. Now it looks like Mittens will get the 1144. I am forced to work against Obama who has been a revolting president.

Obama is lazy, narcissistic, socialist, big government promoter, clueless on how to grow economy, apologizer in chief, wastes time playing golf (100 rounds so far) when country is facing serious problems, Solyndra, Arizona immigration, Fast & Furious, against Keystone & domestic energy production, anti-Israel, pro-Muslim, America divider, and wastes tax payer money by endless vacations on Air Force One and weekly parties at the White House.

So will Newt be campaigning hard for Presidency for the last few remaining days left? Those speeches ought to be interesting to hear. “I’m here asking for your vote for President and your donations to carry my message forward to Tampa!” Then a little further in the speech, “Oh yeah, I will be dropping out next week Tuesday”. I mean, if your going to quit, just quit. What exactly is the point of waiting another week?

After Perry, Newt was our fall back position guy.

Newt Gingrich DEFINATELY is true patriot, a smart patriot and America would do well with Newt's hand on the tiller.

Newt did let us down, by not living his life in a way to show respect for the high position he sought. Most conservatives are moral people who did not accept well Newt's personal life. Last kick, during the campaigning, they would have done better by softening dear Callista’s stark appearance from that of a plastic trophy wife. Although when she did talk to us, she showed that appearances are not always true to ones self.

Now, will Newt still try again at the convention or has he turned like many of his dropout predecessors panhandling to Mitt?

It’s a shame that Gingrich didn’t get honest treatment or enough primary votes, but it’s no surprise.

Both political parties are competing for the voters who are dependent on government for their incomes and for preventions against any new private sector competition (anti-family, anti-rights policies).

Those same voters are morally bankrupt, as their rackets will also be bankrupt soon. Cut personal spending while encouraging the political/regulator class to spend more. Starve the B. Send her to repudiation and currency adjustment.

Then you’ll see small government. And printing dollars into worthlessness wouldn’t save her evil, socialist empire, because worthless is worthless. Do some real work. Become more self-sufficient. Reject political correctness.

I’m still not giving the Republican Socialist, Romney, my vote. Take what you will from me, but I won’t willingly give up my last shred of personal integrity.

I refuse to be a party to what he’s about to do in our name.

So here’s the big question: Now that Newt’s out, and therefore won’t be going to the convention, what happens to the “Anyone-but-Romney” crowd? The leader of this board has emphatically stated that he will under no circumstances support Romney, and many here agree with him. Now that Romney is all that’s left between the country and another four (or more) years of The Won, does that now mean Free Republic will be supporting Obama (as the only one left other than Romney)?

More seriously, do we just look to the down-ballot nominees and hope for the best? Do we stay home? Hold our noses and vote Romney anyway? Write in Sarah Palin (knowing no one in the “establishment” will care)? Vote Ron Paul?

I’ve even heard/read that some here will actually vote for Obama on the premise that the disaster he will wreak will create fertile ground for a truly conservative candidate in 2016, or that America needs to finally learn the lesson that the current breed of Democrats are not fit to lead the country.

I’m not trying to be flippant. I seriously want to know what will happen, now that the race is down to the disastrous incumbent and the candidate this site has sworn never to vote for.

I could see myself voting for Gingrich; though in all honesty he was my last resort candidate. He still would have had my vote. I'm looking into the Constitution Party candidate. So far I *really* like what I see. Virgil Goode looks like a good recipient for my vote. With Romney the republicans have officially flipped the bird to the conservatives and I am offended.

Larry Welsh, thank you for all that you have done.

I want to say much more, but it is very late for me. God bless you for working so hard to change the tide. You are a true patriot and an honorable man.

You will recognize some of the following words, as most of them came from a previous post I had written. For me, these thoughts fit the moment.

—Ronald Reagan’s warnings about losing our freedoms echoes down through a generation of lost momentum and squandered opportunity.

We now have the most ignorant electorate in the history of American elections. I believe we have the most corrupt government and media our country has ever seen.

I believe that Newt was the one leader that could have turned our country away from the abyss, intelligently and quickly.

It is abundantly clear to me that not enough folks shared my beliefs, instead of a leader, they wanted a preacher.... and far too many lacked the courage to forgive and look beyond the personal sins in a mans past and into the promise of a brighter future for our country. That is certainly a free choice and a personal choice.... and as it is with all choices, there will be consequences.

In any case, Americans will get the country it apparently wants and a country it so richly deserves.
