Maybe others can answer more concisely, but I believe we need a place where like-minded traditional conservatives can meet to discuss and advocate for our pro-life, pro-liberty, pro-constitution, pro-traditional American conservative values, principles and causes--without being hounded and attacked by leftists, "moderates" and other naysayers, doubters, doom & gloomers, malcontents or trolls who would either outright destroy our liberty and our way of life, surrender it, or otherwise nibble away at it in bits and bites.

Free Republic has been just that for fifteen years!!

We wholeheartedly and steadfastly believe in and defend our founding principles and our traditional American conservative way of life.

Our nation was founded on the principle that all men are created equal and endowed by GOD with unalienable rights to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

And that government derives its just powers from the consent of the governed. And that our constitution was established to severely restrict and limit the government to ONLY those powers actually enumerated and delegated to it by the constitution and that all others are reserved to the states and the people.

The rights and powers of government are few and defined while the rights and powers of the people are many and granted by God. Government does not grant us our rights and cannot take them away.

We the people are the sovereigns and final arbiters.

When any government becomes destructive to the causes of liberty then it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it.

Our government without a doubt has overstepped its constitutional bounds and is becoming outright hostile to our liberty. This is tyranny.

Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God!

We must alter it by taming those who would be our masters. We must reestablish our constitutional limits on government and fully restore our god-given liberty.

This has been the mission of Free Republic since inception. We deliver tens of millions of pages of discussions by conservatives in support of our conservative values to millions of readers every month. We are a conduit of conservative thought from the people to the media, to the talkers, to the kingmakers, to the movers and shakers and to our government representatives. And to each other and to the other side. Free Republic is well read! According to Alexa and other rating organizations we're nearly in the top 1000 or so sites in America (1102 today). We are consistently in the top ten among conservative sites.

People read us. Our thoughts and discussions are often linked, quoted, referenced, mentioned or talked about in the media, blogs or talkshows. People come here for news, information and conservative perspective as posted by liberty-loving individuals like YOU and me.

Where else can you post your great freedom inspiring thoughts and see them reflected almost immediately on google and possibly talked about by Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin or written about by any number of news outlets or blogs?

You are a newsmaker and activist for your conservative causes. Your opinion counts and is noticed and is acted upon. Don't believe me? Ask the unimpeachable president Clinton. Ask Presidents Gore or Kerry. Ask top news anchor, Dan Rather!!

Dearest Jim,

In addition to everything you wrote, I want to add that life long FRiends are made and treasured here every day.

We laugh together, pray together, fight for likeminded causes so we are happy to support Free Republic: America’s Exclusive Site for God, Family, Country, Life & Liberty Conservatives!

Free Republic is our home on the Internet. I don’t want to sound mushy here, but we’re more like family, than anything else and families all have in-laws, crazy aunts and uncles and spats are more normal than not. We can’t choose our family members, but as a whole, Free Republic attracts the best and smartest of folks, and you have dedicated moderators and yourself to deal with the unruly factions that ultimately must be sent packing.

I treasure the FRiendships I have made and always look forward to making more.

God bless and Keep you all.

I urge everyone to donate, and to donate Monthly, if you possibly can.

Please know that every donation, no matter the amount, is truly and greatly appreciated. Were every regular user, reader and member to donate, our FReepathons would be over in a flash.

Thanks very much everyone!!!

FReep on!!!

Thanks. Very true. I was just curious how it all broke down. I have no doubt FR requires a lot of bandwidth. Definitely puts a dent on the wallet.

I donated last night ($25.00 from Michigan). I’ve read the thread on alternatives.

There is already a system in place for those that don’t have the funds to give to have someone sponsor them.

How about keeping that same system and implementing it in a pay to post.

If the minimum monthly donation is $3, $3 x 3months is $9 per quarter. I understand, money is tight. People can find $3 a month in pop cans for crying out loud.

There are some that already sponsor people at $10. Have a list of those that need ‘assistance’. They get sponsored for a quarter. Just as people shouldn’t use welfare as a career, not donating shouldn’t be a consistent habit either. There is helping and then there is mooching.

Those willing to sponsor can cycle through the list of those needing assistance. You could set it up as a monthly or quarterly or semi annual or even yearly sponsorship. $20 can sponsor someone for 6 months. $10 for 3 months/quarterly, there are sponsors that already help others that way.

When your sponsorship runs out, you can’t post unless you donate or get sponsored again.

The site needs donations to be able to continue. Its time for some to put their money where their posts are.

People could lurk for free and still be able to read the articles and learn.

Even $20 a year from posters would help immensely. Where else can you get entertainment and learn something for $20 a year? I would think that $20 a year from all posters would go a long way to keeping the lights on and those that wanted to donate more could.

I know some don’t like the idea of paying to post, but I suspect those that whine the loudest aren’t donating.

I would avoid ads, too many block them anyway an the same moochers would use blockers. If you aren’t part of the solution then you are part of the problem. jmo
