There are times when you glance at the leftist Daily Kos blog and wonder if they're being sabotaged from the inside. Case in point: a blog titled "The fetus is a parasite."
"Sasharusha" blogs "back to the whole fetus= parasite thing. That is how I see them. I don't see them as cute and cuddly. I see them as terrifying and scary. I see pregnancy the same way. Here are some examples on how pregnancy is a parasitic relationship:
The Z/E/F sucks the nutrients from the mother. The "relationship" only benefits the fetus. The mother's organs and body parts become damaged. The fetus controls the mother. The fetus doesn't give anything "back".
Some people would argue that this is a form of Mutualism, which is a relationship where both the host and the parasite benefit, but how does this benefit the mother? Where is that "benefit"?"
After listing ways in which a fetus is just like a parasite, Sasharusha concludes:

I am the kind of woman who prefers science, studies, and medical facts over throwing pregnancy on the "magical miracle" band wagon. It is not magical, it's called genetics and biology. You see, life is supposed to be a series of levels or stages. When a person reaches certain points in their life they are supposed to move to the next level. This is the process of Maturation. Early levels include learning to walk and talk, learning to empathize with others, learning social skills, etc. Some time after puberty a person reaches the level where, hopefully, they are ready to produce the next generation. (You know, the people that will still be here when you’re dead. You are aware that you’re going to die one day, right?)
There is as much difference between being an adult without children and being a parent as there is between being an infant and being a teenager. Once you have a child everything changes. Your life isn’t just about what you want any longer. You have this little person who is completely helpless. They need you like no other person has ever needed you in your entire life. Their very life depends on what you do every minute of every day. They will die without you! The responsibility can be very overwhelming but you must keep going. As your child matures you will gain more and more of your own life back. It will be your job to help this process along by teaching and influencing them with all the things you learned while you were maturing.
Problems arise when people do not advance through the levels properly. Maybe it’s because their parents never matured themselves. (Can’t teach what you don’t know.) Then there are those who don’t want to mature. They see maturity as a loss of freedom instead of a gain, as moving “closer to the grave” so to speak. Some are lazy. Some are stupid. Some reach the level of teenager and simply refuse to move on. This allows them to never have to take responsibility for their lives. (How many people in your life does that describe?) Others are narcissistic jackasses who don’t care about anything that doesn’t directly benefit them. These are people who for one reason or another have not moved to the next level.
Granted, people are free to do as they wish and there is certainly no law that says you must have children. Many mature people simply don’t want children and that’s fine. In fact, it’s probably for the best. But I think many of the problems in our society are the direct result of people’s lack of maturity. And this lack of maturity causes some to treat sex with the same regard they treat going to the bathroom: It’s just something they need to do. It’s not surprising at all that they consider the tiny miracle of life they create as being no different than a tapeworm.
Evil, evil, evil. This nation is full of these butt-ugly people who contaminate everything even the water they slurp.
Sick, sad, and self-absorbed.
Then, so is a born baby. And a pet. Possibly even a useless relative. We don’t let you kill them when you think they’ve overstayed their welcome, either.

Hey look on the bright side. This might explain why so many Dims and welfares and etc., are such a parasite on society. They had prenatal training.
Used to see a lot of this in the old Soviet Union. These are people who honestly believe that a political decision about anything is the ultimate criterion. They are, in essence, religious extremists, although they'd deny it stoutly.
A fetus is NOT a parasite! That said, some grow up to be parasites and then post on sites like the DailyKos.

But this “parasite” actually is good for the mother’s health. The stats are there showing pregnancies reduce the likelihood of breast cancer and some other cancers.
While some female athletes fear pregancy, others like Kim Clijsters seem to peak after returning to athletics after giving birth. These mom athletes avoid over-training staleness and often appear younger than their peers.

If you are a Darwinist, your fetus is a benefit to you (unless the pregnancy is going to kill you) because life exists to reproduce itself.
If you an existentialist, and you impose your personal meaning on the meaninglessness of existence, than sure, the fetus is a parasite if you think it is.

Okay, the baby is not actually a parasite, however, using the logic they expound, the baby called a parasite is actually given a separate life status, therefore the mother cannot say that what she plans to do to the unborn child is being done to HER body, because the child is a separate entity. A separate HUMAN entity deserving of every human right the mother enjoys.
Another thing, babies cells have been found to enter the mother through the umbilical cord. “A pregnant woman knows she is shaping her child’s future from the moment of conception. Mother and child are engaged in a silent chemical conversation throughout pregnancy, with bits of genetic material and cells passing not only from mother to child but also from child to mother. Most women are never healthier than when they are pregnant. Many have this “glow” that they didn’t have before. They look and act happy.

I'm pretty much in the same boat: 25 YO, 23 YO, and a 10 YO, with an 18 MO grandson. He lives with his parents about 30 minutes from us.
You'll be first on the list if the treatment works. Very simply, the car the 23 YO is driving, I'm making the payments on, as I got it for my daughter for college. She gave it back to me with 90K miles. The son's driving it about 3K per month, as his GF's apartment is 20 miles away, and he's got two cousins his age that are 30 miles in opposite directions...I think you get the picture.
Anyhow, I'm trading it in at the end of the year for either a Ford Escape or Subaru Forester. When that happens, HE AIN'T DRIVING IT!!!! I'm giving him at least 7 months to save up for a downpayment on a car of his choosing, should our aged Yukon not be good enough.
His mother disagrees with me ("the Yukon's a gas guzzler"). Well, he's getting 7 months to figure out his own solution.
Ah yes. I can just see the Lefty protest signs now:
