A gunman responsible for shooting seven people in separate attacks has been shot dead by police.
Mohammed Merah has been holed up in the Croix-Daurade district of the city for 32 hours in a dramatic siege situation.
French Interior Minister Claude Gueant said "[The police] had never seen anything like this. In the end Merah jumped out of a window continuing to shoot. He was found dead on the ground. We were able to remove him and the dangers he posed to the people of Toulouse".

Hey Candor, here’s another clear video of the sounds of the shootings. Would be great if someone with an ear could distinguish the type of guns sounding off. As the video moves along they are louder and more distinct. No doubt the bullits were certainly coming out fast and furious.

I had the same thought after hearing those last 3 shots.I do not think there was any way he was going to leave there alive after wounding several policemen.

Early reports said Merah, wearing body armour, fired at officers then jumped out a window to his death, but prosecutor Francois Molins later revealed a marksman shot Merah in the head as he tried to flee.
Molins said Merah, who wore a bulletproof vest, fired 30 shots at the assault team.

This dude did not act alone. Why would he put all the blame on himself? He never did before and did not this time. The French communist media tried to portray him as a cool neighborhood kid. This might have precipitated the hardening of the standoff and the feeling of righteousness to its bitter end.
