First time I’ve heard his name or the fact that he was a Muslim. I’m just shocked—shocked—that a member of the Religion of Peace could be a killer. /sarc

Mohammed Merah, the confessed murderer of three children and a rabbi at a Toulouse Jewish school this week, was not a lone wolf, and on Wednesday the testimonies poured in about his involvement with a Salafi (extreme strand of Sunni Islam) group named Forsane al-Izza (FA).
The “Knights of Pride”- as the group’s name means in English - was founded in France about a year ago and was outlawed at the beginning of 2012. Up until it was outlawed, the group’s main function was to keep French security forces out of neighborhoods with a Muslim majority. The group expressed its opposition to French democracy, striving to create a Islamic Caliphate in its place. Forsane al-Izza’s leader and spokesman, Mohamed Achamlane, is of Algerian descent.
Forsane al-Izza worked against a French law which banned the wearing of hijabs (a veil worn by Muslim women in public), even provocatively calling on French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s wife, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, to wear a hijab herself.
Meanwhile, the group has also posted videos on the Internet showing it was training for a future clash with French authorities. The “Knights” have also organized protest rallies in which they have called supporters “to fight against Sarkozy’s Jewish-Zionist government.”
Arab media has reported that while the group indeed mainly operates in France, it also had branches in Afghanistan and Pakistan, where its members have undergone training in al-Qaida camps.
The group’s website was shut down on Wednesday and the site’s homepage read: “Due to great pressures brought upon us, we have dismantled the Forsane al-Izza movement.”
Prior to the final announcement, their website carried a message saying “There is nothing but Islam. All Muslims must return to the ways of the original Islam, as it was thousands of years ago” – which is the main tenet at the core of Salafism.

Listen to the video link posted up thread. It sounds more like a coupe de grace rather than returned fire from the police at the end of the firing. I do not believe that the Forbes article is entirely accurate. The police finished him off. He was likely still alive after he hit the ground. I have no problem with that fact in the least.
The press often softens things in relation to Muslim news, so as not to crank up the wasp nests of Islam overmuch. Merah claims martyrdom, when in fact he died like the dog he was, with a justified execution shot to the head while he was laying on the ground. This is the proper way to treat terrorists who shoot children as an accepted method of waging their war against the civilized.
I fully agree CAndor, I listened to the firing several times....but am in no position whatsoever to call those shots. However, those there certainly do know....I suspect at a far later date that will come out....along with as many untrue statements as those that are true.
....either or I'm perfectly content the beast is dead and gone...it matters not to me how...for when all is said and done it will not change that outcome....he's dead.
He deserved much worse. I’m guessing he’s getting it right about now.
God has no pleasure in the death of the wicked, rather that they would come to know him thru his son Jesus Christ....sounds preachy I know,.... but nonetheless a fact.
I have no doubt merha was aware of the Gospel having lived in France his entire life....he chose to follow Islamic teachings. ....and for that continued on with the dangerous and deadly mindset of that false religion....but he was already on a destructive path...Islam just gave him the excuse to destroy what he already desired to do...planned for, prepared and executed.
And yes...he is surely suffering...he's seperated entirely from God...and will IMO know fully well that he is. There can be no greater torture to the soul of any man.
