An elite French police squad cornered Wednesday a self-declared member of Al-Qaeda holed up in a house after a series of shooting attacks that shocked the nation.
Police sources told AFP officers investigating three attacks in which a gunman killed three soldiers, three Jewish schoolchildren and a rabbi had sealed off an address in the Croix-Daurade district of Toulouse.
A source close to the inquiry told AFP the suspect had exchanged words with the RAID team and had declared himself to be a member of Al-Qaeda.
He is thought to be a 24-year-old man who had previously travelled to the lawless border area between Pakistan and Afghanistan which is known to house al-Qaeda safehouses, one of the officials told AFP.

That’s just pathetic. Hasn’t our government and the UN said it enough? Islam is a religion of PEACE....get it PEACE! Thus, it stands to reason that no Muslim would be associated with a terrorist group.
I hate to say it but if this continues I’ll have to opus out...or something. I cannot in good conscience associate myself with anyone foolish enough to think that a member of the most PEACEFUL ISLAM would do something so unexpected.

The suspect us 24 years old, French, a native of Toulouse. Belongs to a Salafist Islamist group, spent time in Afghanistan & Pakistan.
His house in Toulouse is surrounded. Other raids in other parts of the city are taking place, rooting out a possible Al Qaida cell.
Two policemen have been injured.
The suspect is believed to be the scooter killer who murdered three French paratroopers and three little children and their father at a Jewish school in Toulouse on Monday.
