If Rick Santorum wins the nomination, the GOP is insane.

Probably true but Illinois is a tall order.

Too bad he faced stumbling blocks in Michigan and Ohio.

Romney Camp in response:

“Senator Santorum is an economic lightweight who has precisely zero job creating experience. He ought to scare every conservative when it comes to his economic record. We won’t get the economy going again by replacing one senator with no job creating experience with another with no job creating experience.”

Romney is just so dang arrogant it ain’t even funny. And Romneycare and turning around the Olympics with a big handout from Uncle Sam is supposed to impress me with his “job-creating record”?

Santorum’s right: If he can win in IL, I see no reason he can’t take NY or CA either, which are the big contests, at least one has to go to Not-Romney to take this to the convention.

The flip-flopping Massachusetts liberal has had a MASSIVE and vile attack campaign aimed at Santorum in Illinois. I can only hope that anyone who has gotten the barrage of daily robo hate calls has been turned off by the source of them.

Supporting RINO ROMNEY openly on FR openly and publicly should earn the poster immediate suspension or banishment from Free Republic. Coming out either now, or after Gingrich suspends his campaign, either way. Anti-thetical to the essence of Free Republic.

He’s probably right... “if”... This is intelligent strategy on his part, actually, from a motivational standpoint insofar as his supporters are more apt to be fired up positively by such a bold declaration than Mitt’s would be contrarily. It’s a tall order, and in purely statistical terms unlikely, but stranger things have happened already this cycle.

God be with him. We need Romney to fail—badly. May the voters of Illinois be wise and may the Romney slime machine finally crash and burn.

Any Santorum supporters living in the Chicago area should seriously think about volunteering at his office in Elgin. I will be there on Monday and Tuesday.

And those who live in other areas can use the phone at home program on his website.

Does anyone know of a Santorum list on Free Republic that lists those living in Illinois? It would be nice to ping them to the volunteer opportunities.

Winning Illinois would really reset the race!

I want some of what Santorum been smokin’

He can’t win the nomination outright unless both Newt and Mitt drop out soon.

He needs 64% of the remaining delegates of the remaining primaries.

Somebody needs to get Rick’s head in touch with Rick’s mouth, but real quick.

When Ronald W. Reagan came into his native IL to campaign in 1976, he said it would be a miracle if he got 40 percent over Gerald R. Ford in that liberal state. I think that is about what he got. The state is liberal, liberal, liberal, and we can’t put much hope in it. I think the key to Rick’s potential loss was his failure to get on the VA ballot. Having to forfeit ID and UT hurts too.

He is probably correct. If he can win in Illinois, the polls will shift enough for the 11% that keeps jumping to the front runner to move from Romney to him. I do not see Romney ever getting it back if they leave him.

...and I’ll have no way to compete against Barack Obama, no money, no organization or debate skills, but at least I’m a “conservative” so what’s the big deal?
