For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.
I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit?In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.
My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.
I am sure that the sponsors were ready to leave in droves and not just the mentioned 4. The problem was that it was a distraction from the good that Rush did and he just killed the story which is good. Now on to more important items. Santorum may have spoken to him too. President Santorum is going to be so good for this country! I can’t wait!!!!

It grates the hell out of me that those pu$$ies Medved and Hewitt are going to get to crow that they made the right call.

Imho, Rush may believe that this tempest in a teacup is taking too much attention from more important issues.
I worked for many years in the radio advertising business, before I could no longer take it because of how vulture like it is. That being said I have maintained many friends, some of which are in high places. I think many people here myself included and Rush probably himself overestimated his own staying power.
I talked to some of my friends about it yesterday, and they all told me the same thing, that Rush was in significant trouble as of the afternoon yesterday. Advertisers were contacting Premiere Radio Networks in droves telling them that although highly rated they don’t need the trouble and will pull out of the show if he does not apologize by Monday.
My friends who didn’t think he would apologize thought his show would be cancelled by the end of the month. So although I don’t like it I trust them and their opinion immensely so I’m glad Rush did it, so there would be no problems in keeping him on the air.
The problem was the advertisers. Think Progress has organized an AstroTurf attack on him (on Twitter, etc.), and his advertisers are likely being bombarded with calls (the leftists calling could care less about the products, but that’s besides the point).
We need to get better organized to counter this.

However, I wish he’d gone further and endorsed the idea that government should financially support our individual rights. In my case, this would mean the government would give me the money to buy that Barrett 50 I want in order to truly access my 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms.
As far as I’m concerned he probably lost 10% of his listening audience. I always felt that he would lead us into the attack. I should’ve taken him at his word that he is simply an entertainer.
Rush had nothing to apologize for! I’m disappointed that he caved to whatever pressure he felt he was getting. This woman chose to go tell the world of her sexual activities with the expectation that WE should pay for it. Frankly, I can think of a lot worse things that this lovely “person” should be called! The left was never "losing" this debate. The entire issue has been about changing the conversation from things like gas prices to instead putting conservatives on the defensive about social issues like birth control.
Even if the specific issue of forcing church organizations to cover contraception polls well for us, we are still losing the war because we are not talking about the economy, gas prices, debt, etc. Worse, because there really are social conservatives like Santorum who really can't resist weighing in on his belief that contraception in general is bad, the issue continues to become more about whether condoms and birth control pills are morally okay rather than how outrageous it is that the government is now requiring religious institutions to cover them.
We are never, ever going to win this debate. We could if the issue could remain solely on the appropriateness of requiring church organizations to cover contraception - but with so many social conservatives who actually do oppose birth control in principle, the issue will never remain focused on the insurance piece of the debate.
Every day that we are talking about this is contraception nonsense is a giant political loser for the Republican party.
The pulling of sponsorships worked . . sorry, but the left beats us at that game. Hypocrites and sluts they are, but they are much better street fighters than us. They have the MSM on their side, they’ve duped enough women, minorities, voters, et al that what we say is prejudiced, while they get a free ride for doing MUCH worse.
That’s the reality of today. Rush gets booted from MNF, the NFL ownership, and now losing sponsors. He said no more than what most people think, but the reality is we have to act on a much higher plane, we have to speak better, act better, in short, continue to demonstrate our superior values in all ways, otherwise we lose the battles and eventually the war.
Don’t blame Rush. Blame the assholes who continue to subscribe, read, view, and advertise in the MSM and vote for liberals because their family did or out of racial guilt or trying to be cool. They are the true idiots which allow the Sandra Flukes to be made national heroes even when any parent would be totally ashamed of her.

I agree. I think that name-calling is a bad thing, and all it generally does is get people angry and not thinking properly. Rush’s point was valid (who wants to be forced to PAY for other people’s . . . recreation? And also, why on earth would birth control cost $3,000 for 4 years? How much does a pack of condoms cost, anyway? And even b/c pills are super-cheap at Planned Parenthood, their favorite place!). But going straight for personal name-calling was not only rude, but actually damaging to our cause. Rush did not win over one new person by calling names, but he did make a lot of fence-sitters angry. Counter-productive, in the long run.

In the lamestream media, the story is not the absurdity of Fluke's bogus victim status or the entitlement mentality for which she has just become the poster girl. It's that Rush called a young girl (though older than we were first led to believe) a nasty name to a national audience. That's all the casual observer of news is going to take away from this. It also enabled her to go on TV again and play up her victimhood to the world. Therefore, he has become the bad guy, and it makes our side look like a bunch of judgmental Pharisees.
We have to be smarter than that if we are going to win on this issue of religious freedom. And we have to win this one.

It is always about money. I doubt that Rush lost any of his huge audience over this, and other advertisers would have certainly filled in. It is about money to them too.

We must support our conservative warriors, warts and all. Can’t completely agree with Rush’s tactics? Then agree to disagree with him on this one and CONTINUE to stand by Rush.
