Why is this in breaking news?
Why create a special class of people?
As another poster pointed out, a child was shot yesterday near the same place. Was that breaking news?

Why create a special class of people?
If it hasn't been posted before, then 'breaking news' makes some sense. If someone else posted the earlier story about a child being shot near the same place and didn't put that in breaking news, how does that affect what this poster considered to be 'breaking news'? Two different posters, two different decisions.
And just what 'special class of people' are you concerned about? Are you the posting police?
LEOs like firefighters, the military, etc, are an elite group of people who agree to put themselves in harm's way, every day. They agree that when there is an armed perp on the loose, they will not barricade themselves in their homes, but will leave positions of safety and go hunt the perp, so he doesn't kill us.
When there are supplies to be delivered to a remote outpost, and IEDs on the road, they still drive that dangerous route, unquestioningly
They agree that when a building is burning, then will not run away, like any “smart’ person would, but will, every time, run into that building to try to save us, and on 9/11, most of them stayed there forever.
And when there are incidents like that, from a simple auto accident to a huge plane crash, or 9/11, who stays around and picks up the bodies... and body parts... They do.
Are they a special class of people? You betcha!
Why are you so bothered by this being “Breaking News”? To us in Western Washington who have felt the pain and loss of so many of our Officers being murdered over the last few years, it is very much important for us to learn when this happened again.
