In Michigan, Santorum supporters planted hundreds of campaign signs in Shelby Township prior to Mitt Romney’s appearance today. Some of these signs were planted alongside sidewalks and roadways across from and surrounding the Romney campaign stop. Approximately two hours before the scheduled event, Romney campaign staffers, including Dennis Lennox of Topinabee, MI, began planting Romney signs in front of the location. Around the same time, several other people, who refused to identify themselves, began uprooting hundreds of Santorum signs along the roadway leading to the event. Signs placed at a commercial intersection were also removed.
When asked to explain his actions, Santorum supporters were confronted with obscenities from one person removing signs. He claimed to be unaffiliated with the Romney campaign.
One officer on the scene, Lou Francis, refused to assist in retrieving stolen campaign signs valued at over $1500.

Signs stapled high on a pole with an envelope filled with paint stapled behind the sign will discourage there removal. Because the perp must stand directly below the sign and is using a pole with a hook on it to pull it down. Once the perp gives it a yank to pull it down winds up getting paint dumped on him when pulling the sign down.
Vasoline or grease applied to the back of yard signs appled to the top back and sides of the sign will have the same effect.

Well,,,, my trick is to rub the signs with poison ivy. Last election cycle, the teenager next store couldn’t figure out how he got such a bad case of poison ivy. He needed an ocean,,, of Calamine Lotion!
This is just local politics, but a guy told me of a man running for office in his area who woke up one morning and found his opponent’s signs in his yard. He went out and removed them. But his opponent had a photographer in the bushes across the street and got video footage of him removing “his opponent’s” signs. He was set up. And he lost the election.
Not that that is what happened here. After all, I’m sure if it was they would have said so, rather than cop the attitude they did. ;-)
This is so pathetic. Romney’s campaign is so dirty he is going to inevitably turn off voters who supported Santorum, Gingrich, Paul, Cain or others who were in the race. And when he loses to Obama in the general election and loses a large majority of states, do you think he’ll blame his immensely negative campaign for destroying his voter turnout? No. Romney and the RINO cabal will blame the Tea Party and conservatives for not being intelligent enough to understand how he is really a “severe” conservative.
Topinabee Michigan, that gigantic city of 9 on Mullet lake with a dock, a 7-ll a couple bars, 1/2 way between Indian River and Cheboygan /sp.....Our cottage use to be across Mullet lake from that thriving metropolos.
Who the heck is surprised that the weasel from Mars is now openly snuggling up with Mitt? I say “matched set”.

Cheboygan Co. Drain Commissioner Dennis Lennox resigns

CHEBOYGAN CO., MI — Cheboygan County Drain Commissioner Dennis Lennox has resigned from his job.
He made the announcement today and it takes effect immediately.
Lennox was the center of several controversies during his time as drain commissioner.
First he tried to eliminate his own job. Later he faced legal trouble for using county stamps to send out campaign material in Christmas cards. He was found not guilty.
Most recently he brought a man dressed as Santa Claus to a commission meeting trying to get to the board to formally support Christmas.

Anyone remember that wire framed political sign that someone hooked up to an electric fence system,,, funny video of a little thief teen getting shocked.
Romney camp would freak out and as you expect deny they had anything to do with it.
I don't know what is worse... the guy taking down the signs or the Cops standing by and not arresting him.
The Paultards use the tactic of plastering every corner with 1,000 signs - often covering up those of their competitor, and the Romney camp resorts to stealing Santorum signs. Both prove they are shameless DUmocrats who don’t like competition.
I think the DIY paintball landmine has a lot of potential. For example, you could make a split chamber and fill half with paint and the other half with the most lethal hot sauce you can buy.

That aside - Public right-of-ways? Seen them used across the country for decades.

I think political signs are a complete waste of time and money. Plus, they are an eyesore. Now really, who has ever been persuaded by a sign to align with a particular candidate or party? An informal poll on this thread would be interesting.
