Chris Christie to Warren Buffett: Just 'shut up' (Christie to Buffett: Shut up and pay up)
CNN Money ^ | 2/22/2012 | By Charles Riley

Posted on 02/22/2012 6:46:07 AM PST by tobyhill

Outspoken New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie had some rather harsh words for billionaire investor Warren Buffett on Tuesday.

During a discussion with CNN's Piers Morgan about tax rates, Christie made it known that he's just about had it with Buffett, the world-famous investor who lent his name to a proposed tax hike on the rich.

"He should just write a check and shut up," Christie said. "I'm tired of hearing about it. If he wants to give the government more money, he's got the ability to write a check -- go ahead and write it."

If we were all equal, as the liberals like to expound, we would all pay the same tax rate, even the lowest among us. They want to create a system of inequality and call it equality...........

“He is gaming the system by receiving $85,000 in salary”

Yes, or at least he’s tricked himself into thinking he is. Only the form his income takes, capital gains, is taxed before it finds its way into his hands. You may have heard of the “corporate tax.” So it turns out that even though he personally isn’t assessed, nevertheless he’s effectively taxed more than his secretary. Which stands to reason, since none but fools think the government would allow a man like Buffet to get away with forking over a measely 15%.

All this hullabaloo over fairness vis a vis Buffet and his poor, rich secretary is accounting legerdemain. They want to tax corporate profits more, that’s all.

“...He’s actually doing a great job here in NJ. He balanced the budget and we’re getting a tax cut...”

Yeah...all true...but ya STILL can’t get a concealed carry license to protect what’s really important - your LIFE - in New Jersey. I know - I tried. And I have a CCW good in 24 states that Jersey doesn’t recognize.

Until you get him around to the right side of your gun rights, he’s just another politician that knows the right words to sway people one way or the other.

The true test of any conservative is how he/she views your right to protect THE most basic Human Right - your right to remain alive and to defend your life and those you love, anywhere, anytime it is threatened, with the single most expedient means available - a firearm.

I mean...after all, it’s not like it’s written in the US Constitution, the law of the land, or anything....

Other than that, Christie seems like a good guy.

RE “In before the Christie haters show up on this thread to claim he's a “social liberal” (which they will continually lie about no matter how many times he goes to bat for conservatives for pro-life & defense of traditional marriage). And then they'll tell us they have to join the union thugs in going after Christie because there's some super secret GOP establishment conspiracy to nominate Christie for President during the upcoming “brokered convention”.

I don't expect every governor of every state to be a Pat Robertson or a Wayne LaPierre. As far as I am concerned he is doing a great job considering the state he is in.

Anyone who thinks Christie is no different than a Democrat needs to live in Maryland for a while, some Martin O Malley gems since he became governor 2007:

Same sex marriage just passed
Dream Act college tuition for illegals (in law)
State sales tax raised by 20% (in law)
Alcohol and cigarette taxes increased (in law)
Gasoline tax increase (being voted on, sure to pass)
Require locks on guns, bullets tracable, and training to get a gun (n law)
Milllionare’s tax increase (in law)

I can only dream of Christie here.

I just remembered, see bold :

Anyone who thinks Christie is no different than a Democrat needs to live in Maryland for a while, some Martin O Malley gems since he became governor 2007:

Auto Speeding detector fine cameras in movable vans to send out fines to collect $$$$, with gradually increasing fines if the post office never gets the notice to your mailbox (in law)
Same sex marriage just passed
Dream Act college tuition for illegals (in law)
State sales tax raised by 20% (in law)
Alcohol and cigarette taxes increased (in law)
Gasoline tax increase (being voted on, sure to pass)
Require locks on guns, bullets traceable, and training to get a gun (n law)
Millionaire’s tax increase (in law)

He vetoed SS marriage the other day, just as Maryland passed it. I will take him as governor any day.

Speaking of fiscal jousting. If a Republican was to actually beat Obama, how long do you think it would take before he abandons his campaign promises on cutting spending? Before the first bill even goes to a vote? Or after the first failed vote?

>> Anyone who thinks Christie is no different than a Democrat needs to live in Maryland for a while, some Martin O Malley gems since he became governor 2007: <<

Ditto with Pat Quinn here in Illinois. I will gladly trade him for Christie since the loudmouths here claim there is "no difference" between Christie and a liberal RAT.

Hell, I have a "socially liberal" Republican U.S. Senator who gets a 100% rating from NARAL and gloats about it, and demands the GOP spend zillions on embyronic stem cell research. If they think Christie is really in the same boat as my guy, let's swap. Since we have a bunch of freepers howling about "States rights" there really ought to be an exchange program where they can trade the politicians they don't like for the ones we don't like. Since a bunch of idiots here claim Lindsey Graham is the worst RINO ever, I'll take them Mark Kirk for him. I guess they think having a "moderate" like Mark Kirk who loves every gun control bill even written and abortion on demand will be an improvement. They can have him and I'll take Graham off their hands. And I'll gladly take "RINO" Christie out of NJ so the Lonegan worshippers won't have to deal with him beating up the teacher's unions and tax-and-spend commies anymore. They can have Pat Quinn instead. I'm sure they won't mind a Chicago machine thug since they claim they're "no difference" between Christie and marxist RATs.

Put up or shut up. The freepers ranting and raving that politicians who did their bidding 80% of the time are RINO scum should have their bluff's called, like the loudmouth Hollywood celebs who constantly whine how the rich should be taxed more.

>> christie does have a knack for the smackdown, on fiscal jousting... its just everywhere else that he sucks...heheheh... <<

Right. Even though he governs solidly on being pro-life and pro-traditional marriage, we'll just slam him as a "social liberal" over and over again on FR so it better fits the "RINO" stereotype to pretend he's liberal on those issues. Who cares about his actual record on social issues? Let's scream that "he's pro-abortion!" when he continually stands up for our side on the right to life.

Talk about cutting off your nose to spit in your face...

RE :”Talk about cutting off your nose to spit in your face...

I was thinking the same words as you did.

Even Scott Brown who is a bunch more liberal than Christie is a hell of a lot better than his Marxist challenger Elizabeth Warren.

Anyone, Come live in Maryland and then tell me Christie is the same as a Democrat.

RE :” I would crawl over broken glass to vote for Christie over Quinn or his Highness King Baraq. (and that’s not hyperbole ;)

I was watching DVRed Morning Joe from this Morning and Christie fired back on lib homo Jonathan Capehart calling out his hero Obama on being a phony on same-sex-marriage. Capehart said that proof that Obama believes in SS marriage isthat he wont defend DOMA in court, and Christie then nails him:
Really? if he believes in SS marriage then why doesnt he come on this show and look the camera in the eye and say so? I will tell you why ...he wants it both ways... he is a phony

MSNBC sissy boy Capehart almost started crying. Then he (who is black himself) says that the homosexual struggle is like the history of blacks civil rights struggle in America. Joe gave him hell on that :” What?? Gays demanding legal marriage is the same as slavery, Jim Crowe, lynchings and church burnings? ” Capehart says yes.
Self hating black liberals like Capehart get away with insulting their own race.

Christie is incredible taking on liberals face to face in their territory. You see any of the cult heroes doing that? Not a chance.
