Megadeth's Dave Mustaine Wants Rick Santorum To Win Presidency

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine, apparently, is big into politics. When recently asked by Music Radar for his views on U.S. politics, Mustaine candidly stated that he hopes Rick Santorum takes over the White House after the 2012 election and gave his reasons.

“Looking at the Republican candidates, I’ve got to tell you, I was floored the other day to see that Mitt Romney’s five boys have a $100 million trust fund,” said the self-proclaimed Republican musician. “Where does a guy make that much money? So there [are] some questions there. And watching Newt Gingrich, I was pretty excited for a while, but now he’s just gone back to being that person that everybody said he was — that angry little man. I still like him, but I don’t think I’d vote for him

Mustaine is lucky he didn’t burn out instead of fading away.

Looks like I’ll have to buy Megadeths new album. In my opinion, it seems like a lot of heavy metal bands have become more conservative over the years. Most of them were pretty liberal back in the 80’s and 90’s.

I love how most all of the old rockers and metal heads tend to be conservatives/libertarians. I remember when I was a kid we were all long haired headbanging die hard Reagan fans to the core!

“But when he says that we’re like the Taliban… I’m sorry, Congressman Paul, but I’m nothing like the Taliban.”

Saw them 3 times live back in the days. I still try to pass by the apartment building on Sycamore here in Hollywood where Dave Mustaine first met the lead g Dave Ellefson, who were both 17 at the time. A couple more blocks on Gardner, where Guns N Roses lived when they had no money. My uncle also saw the original shows in Frisco when he was still part of Metallica..

"Now that’s what I call an in depth and sophisticated analysis. /s"

You folks make me laugh. Not long ago, the big complaint with Santorum was that he was too square and nerdish and his support was too narrow.

Now that he's received the virtual endorsement of a metal rocker, your complaint is that the musician's analysis is not as in depth and sophisticated as you would have it.

And you folks complain about the "elitists"?!?!

May I add one more?

Dave was asked why he doesn’t support Obama’s ways. He responded “What do you mean I don’t support your system? I go to court when I have to.” OK, I should have quit when I was ahead. :-)
