NYT: It’s the entitlements, stupid
Charleston (WV) Daily Mail ^ | February 13, 2012 | Don Surber

The trouble with situational ethics is that it leaves you with no morals and without morals it is difficult to be morally superior to anyone. This reduces liberals to whining about hypocrisy all the time by holding the other guy to his high standards and being smug about it. The irony is that in order to apply those higher standards liberals must admit that those higher standards are meaningful. If indeed adultery were nothing, they would not mention a 40-year-old affair by Henry Hyde. But cries of hypocrisy are all that is left to them. They sound a lot like Gomer Pyle yelling, “citizen’s arrest.”

The New York Times found itself reduced on Sunday to crying “citizen’s arrest” at Ki Gulbranson, 57, of Lindstrom, Minnesota, because he receives tax credits and his mother is on Medicare despite Ki Gulbranson’s membership in the Tea Party.

Well, let us string him up, shall we?

It’s your patriotic duty to milk the government for everything you can legally get, in order to bring down this welfare state.

Using NYT logic you can’t be against drunk driving if you have had a beer.

Everyone over the age of 62 is on Medicare it is the law.

How about all the SOB liberal hypocrites who advocate higher taxes but yet they use every tax loophole under the sun to get every penny they can back when they file their tax returns.

How about the SOB liberal hypocrites who sympathize so much with the plight of minorities but yet they live in their lilly white neighborhoods making sure that all the minorities they love do not come close to where they live.

Very nice take on the left’s vision of morality.

And people paid taxes for their Medicare... What do they expect conservatives to do, pay taxes in Social Security and Medicare but not getting the service back? LOL...

Too many federally funded, local government offices full of highly paid, idle regulatory and social employees.

This is ridiculous. HOWEVER, I do know many loud mouth conservatives who are on disability (when they are perfectly ok). Disability is one of the most misused assistance programs there is. I wish they would dissolve the entire program.

Tax credits??? Liberals really do believe that everything belongs to the state. Since when is keeping more of one’s own money taking from the government?

The upper class Blacks that live in my neighborhood would not want to go to the “hood” either . It’s not about color pal, it’s about economics. Godfrey Cambridge used to do a routine about the upscale Black family taking a drive down to where they used to live. Driving through the old neighborhood they told their children to roll up the windows. When the kids asked why, they were told it was because ( well you know) lived there. Anyone that can afford the house next door will be welcomed as my neighbor.

I am all in favor of lifelong taxpayers getting back whatever they can, however they can, all the money they can, from the scumbag government. Every taxpayer should grab every dime they can possibly get their hands on before the bums, deadbeats, and parasites who comprise the Democrat party base gobble it all up and there’s nothing left.

I wrote this years ago:

The cardinal sin to liberals is...oddly enough..Hypocrisy.

Their defense against being accused of hypocrisy is a bizzare combination of Rousseauian Moral Relativism coupled with a strain of Orwellian Doublethink. They believe that all behaviors are matters of personal choice (except for homosexuality, which, MUST be genetic in order that it may be treated as a civil right) regardless of consequence, and one type of behavior is equally as valid as another.

To put it another way, they don't have any values or standards. If you don't have values or standards, you can never be called to be held to them, and can never be accused of Hypocrisy.

Most conservatives understand the Christian concept of hate the sin, love the sinner. We know that people are not pefect, but we do think that standards should be there as, at the very minimum, a goal to strive for. If you don't reach those standards, you try to learn from the experience and learn to try again.

Umm...yes?

All liberal entitlement programs are just that to them, a way of redistributing wealth.

You can't effectively redistribute it if you are taking back what you "gave", can you?

The problem in this case is that they are talking about the Earned Income Tax Credit, which is really a Gov’t Wealth Redistribution System, and not really a “tax credit” in the normal sense of the term. So you’ve been tripped up by legislative terminology bankruptcy, i.e. you’ve been lied to in an Orwellian way.
