Newt gave a great speech today at CPAC! Did anybody else hear it? I thought he did a great job of providing specific policy plans, and how they will restore America to freedom and individual liberty.
What I really liked was that he finally spelled out exactly his economic plan, which is far superior to Romney's or Santorum's. He touched on his 0% tax rate on capital gains, his 12.5% corporate tax, elimination of the death tax, and the optional 15% individual flat tax. If these were adopted, the economy would simply explode.
He also made a strong case for an aggressive energy plan, which would include immediate approval of the Keystone pipeline, drilling in ANWR and other areas, with a specific goal of driving the gasoline price at the pump to $2/gallon.
I also heard Santorum and Romney speak. Romney simply sounded totally unconvincing in his attempt to establish his conservative bona fides. Santorum was OK, but he just does not have any specifics behind which I believe the public can unite behind.
I could live with Santorum if that is the way it goes, but Newt's plans are just far superior.
I watched it and it was superb. I’m really hoping that Newt can gain back some traction.
Andrew Brietbart was really fired up too!
But we need the House and the Senate, too.
I only heard Newt but loved that he includes specifics. I’ve watched some of his other speeches in recent weeks when I can on CSPAN and I don’t really watch the other two but when I do, specifics are sorely lacking.
Gingrich/Santorum would be a great ticket. Two terms for Newt and two terms for Rick and we would be back on the right track.
We can disagree about who should be the nominee, but few can strike up the conservative fire like Newt, and regardless of the election I hope he (and Santorum, Cain, and others in the same regard) become an important part of the government going forward. We really need good conservative voices to help put the message out and walk the talk.
I’d even give Ron Paul a job...as Minister of Downsizing. Let him cut that trillion dollars (military excluded) and then we’ll talk about the next trillion!
An exciting REAL CONSERVATIVE ticket would be great!!
How about GINGRICH/WEST?
Did he rip on Obama about this healthcare mandate and his latest supposed dodge to make the insurance company pay instead? I wanted to see at least one candidate speak on that news. Maybe I can catch him on a C-SPAN rerun. I lean Santorum, but Newt is the best verbal shredder of Obama.
Count me in as someone who wants to see Newt get his mojo back. It’s tough because now Santorum will be getting a fair share of the oxygen and he earned it. We’ll see, as long as Romney loses.
Santorum has his own track.
Georgia Right to Life just endorsed Newt and santorum. Yes, Newt’s speech was excellent. NOONE else will do but Newt!

Day One of a Newt Gingrich Presidency
Presidents can begin turning things around very very quickly.
As part of his 21st Century Contract with America, Newt has pledged to issue a series of Executive Orders to create jobs and help undo the damage of the Obama administration on the first day of his administration.
To harness the wisdom and knowledge of the American people, Newt is now collecting ideas for executive orders that he would sign on the first day. Newt.org will periodically release user submitted executive orders which will be added to the list he will sign on the first day of his presidency.

Newt. Because he knows where the bodies in DC are buried...
and what goes on behind closed doors...
(and lots of other reasons, too)
The speech was good but I want Newt to show more fire, up energy! His list of supporters was very good and he should mention them more...todd palin, ollie north, gov perry, the karate guy, etc etc...
I am listening to it now at cspan.org.
Newt is by far the best candidate. In fact, he is a superb candidate, and I am convinced that he is THE man that this country needs in the White House at this time.
I believe that he is the only one who really has the intellect, the experience, the courage and the heartfelt commitment to (as he says) “change the trajectory of this country.” He is a brilliant, speaker and a clear thinker, with a broad and impressive knowledge of virtually all the issues that the next presidency will face.
I have read all the Newt bashing on this site for months, and to me it sounds petty, petulant and on the whole, unconvincing.
I hope and pray that the Republican voters make him the nominee, and that the American voters have the wisdom to put him into the White House in 2012.
If you owned a large company and were looking for a tech to maintain your network security who would be the best to serve in that position?
Get hold of a hacker and make him go straight because he knows all the tricks involved.
The same goes for Newt. He knows how to handle all these fools in D.C. He used to be one and knows how to deal with them.
The FedX, UPS, vs Feds and illegals was SOOOOO funny.
I thought the speech was really good.
It was good!
Would you post the link? I can’t get it to come up.
Loved it!
40% of Obama’s policies will be repealed by the time he lands in Chicago!
Thanks. I looked for a prior thread, but I didn’t find it. I guess I didn’t go back far enough.
I also watched Romney, also without specifics. “Yeah, I'm a severe conservative.” OK, I was a little taken with that degree of pandering. Romney was totally uninspiring, and hit each conservative button, but without any passion at all. He did not inspire me, and I do not believe he inspired the crowd.
Mr. Newt, however, was very inspiring and received a great deal of support from the crowd. He provided specifics about the economy, jobs, taxes, our Constitution. No doubt, he can certainly give a great speech and I also think he can inspire Republicans to rethink their positions.
What is Sanatorium proposing about gas prices?
I payed $87 to fill up last night.
I guess I am to bike to church in my sweater vest...
Not a problem - but I thought you might enjoy all the comments;)
I prefer Newt/Perry. I think they compliment each other.

Yes! I would probably hauled off in a straight jacket when I went to vote because I would be doing the happy dance the whole time! hahahaha!
Santorum\Rubio?
I did. It was Newt at his best. He outlined a plan with solutions and know-how. He looked and IS presidential.
... unlike the other two, who spoke earlier.
I just listened to his speech again and it is so inspiring and positive!

The main reason I support Newt, his plan to reform the Courts!

Here's what some members of his Conservative Dream Team are saying about Newt Gingrich:
"I have no question Newt Gingrich has the heart of a conservative reformer, the ability to rally and captivate the conservative movement, the courage to tell those Washington interests to take a hike if its what is in the best interests of the country." -Governor Rick Perry
"It is time for conservatives and Republicans to refocus their attention on the ultimate mission of defeating President Obama. I believe Speaker Gingrich is the bold leader we need to accomplish this mission." -Herman Cain
Newt exemplifies the conservative principles my father championed. Strong national defense, lower taxes and smaller government. -Michael Reagan
We need someone who has the courage and ability to communicate the truth to the American people. Someone who will explain the hard choices that we must make if we are to give our children and grandchildren the same opportunities our forefathers bestowed on us and avoid the fate that other great nations have suffered throughout history. I believe that person is Newt Gingrich. And that is why I strongly support him. -Fred Thompson
"Newt Gingrich presents the best chance for this country to defeat Barack Obama, and he is the only candidate who will lead the country with solutions that strengthen the economy as well as fight back the damage done by the current administration." -Kellyanne Conway
My wife, Gena, and I sincerely believe former Speaker Newt Gingrich is the answer and deserves our endorsement and vote We believe Newts experience, leadership, knowledge, wisdom, faith and even humility to learn from his failures (personal and public) can return America to her glory days. And he is the best man left on the battlefield who is able to outwit, outplay and outlast Obama and his campaign machine. -Chuck Norris
When you consider where we are today, and you think about the good, old days of balanced budgets, entitlement reform, and paying down our National debt, getting tax relief; as a Republican majority, Newt Gingrich was the Speaker, we haven't seen things like that in the last thirteen years. I am looking for somebody that will be willing to do the heavy lifting to get us to where we all want to be as a nation, and I think Newt fits that profile. -Congressman J.C. Watts
Newt Gingrich has the solutions and ideas we need to restore this country to the greatness that it was founded upon, and Im proud to stand with him in this fight. -Iowa House Majority Leader Linda Upmeyer
He didn’t FINALLY reveal his economic plan, it’s always been on his site and he’s talked about at just about every speech I’ve seen of his.
JB
It was a very good speech!!
Newt campaign staff released a creative document to accompany his speech: the handout to CPAC attendees is the chart below comparing Gingrich's stances on personal Social Security accounts, a flat tax, a low corporate tax rate, the elimination of the capital gains tax, and dollar reforms with those of his competitors. Under more of the same were mugshots of Romney, Rick Santorum, and Obama.

I'm NOT a Rubio fan!
