Newt Gingrich CPAC speech

Posted on 02/10/2012 2:45:04 PM PST by mtrott

Newt gave a great speech today at CPAC! Did anybody else hear it? I thought he did a great job of providing specific policy plans, and how they will restore America to freedom and individual liberty.

What I really liked was that he finally spelled out exactly his economic plan, which is far superior to Romney's or Santorum's. He touched on his 0% tax rate on capital gains, his 12.5% corporate tax, elimination of the death tax, and the optional 15% individual flat tax. If these were adopted, the economy would simply explode.

He also made a strong case for an aggressive energy plan, which would include immediate approval of the Keystone pipeline, drilling in ANWR and other areas, with a specific goal of driving the gasoline price at the pump to $2/gallon.

I also heard Santorum and Romney speak. Romney simply sounded totally unconvincing in his attempt to establish his conservative bona fides. Santorum was OK, but he just does not have any specifics behind which I believe the public can unite behind.

I could live with Santorum if that is the way it goes, but Newt's plans are just far superior.

I watched it and it was superb. I’m really hoping that Newt can gain back some traction.

Andrew Brietbart was really fired up too!

I think Newt can straighten out a lot of our problems and that Romney and Santorum just don't have the umphh to do it. Newt can stay on track. The other two are just all over the board.

But we need the House and the Senate, too.

I only heard Newt but loved that he includes specifics. I’ve watched some of his other speeches in recent weeks when I can on CSPAN and I don’t really watch the other two but when I do, specifics are sorely lacking.

Gingrich/Santorum would be a great ticket. Two terms for Newt and two terms for Rick and we would be back on the right track.

We can disagree about who should be the nominee, but few can strike up the conservative fire like Newt, and regardless of the election I hope he (and Santorum, Cain, and others in the same regard) become an important part of the government going forward. We really need good conservative voices to help put the message out and walk the talk.

I’d even give Ron Paul a job...as Minister of Downsizing. Let him cut that trillion dollars (military excluded) and then we’ll talk about the next trillion!

"I could live with Santorum if that is the way it goes, but Newt's plans are just far superior."

An exciting REAL CONSERVATIVE ticket would be great!!

How about GINGRICH/WEST?

Did he rip on Obama about this healthcare mandate and his latest supposed dodge to make the insurance company pay instead? I wanted to see at least one candidate speak on that news. Maybe I can catch him on a C-SPAN rerun. I lean Santorum, but Newt is the best verbal shredder of Obama.

Count me in as someone who wants to see Newt get his mojo back. It’s tough because now Santorum will be getting a fair share of the oxygen and he earned it. We’ll see, as long as Romney loses.

I prefer Newt/Perry. I think they compliment each other.

Santorum has his own track.

I really liked Newt's speech. He said the the entire EPA Hierarchy, everyone down the chain also, needed to be fired and the EPA dismantled because it is littered with wrong thinking people! He basically said the same thing about the Energy Department!

GO NEWT!

I am listening to it now at cspan.org.

Newt is by far the best candidate. In fact, he is a superb candidate, and I am convinced that he is THE man that this country needs in the White House at this time.

I believe that he is the only one who really has the intellect, the experience, the courage and the heartfelt commitment to (as he says) “change the trajectory of this country.” He is a brilliant, speaker and a clear thinker, with a broad and impressive knowledge of virtually all the issues that the next presidency will face.

I have read all the Newt bashing on this site for months, and to me it sounds petty, petulant and on the whole, unconvincing.

I hope and pray that the Republican voters make him the nominee, and that the American voters have the wisdom to put him into the White House in 2012.

If you owned a large company and were looking for a tech to maintain your network security who would be the best to serve in that position?

Get hold of a hacker and make him go straight because he knows all the tricks involved.

The same goes for Newt. He knows how to handle all these fools in D.C. He used to be one and knows how to deal with them.
