The bloodshed and the brutality of the dictatorship in Syria are at long last beginning to challenge the passivity of the Obama administration. The word is out that the Pentagon has launched a "scoping exercise" to determine what could be done should the president want to respond to the Syrian catastrophe.
For months, the administration pursued the mirage of a United Nations Security Council condemnation of Damascus, when there was no chance that Russia and China would go for it. The administration persisted even though a similar effort last October ended in failure. There was no need to court the Russians. We granted them the pride of being treated as a great power, and they played it for all it was worth, at home and abroad. The time wasted on the courtship of Russia should have been put to use "scoping" ways the Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad could be brought down.

We have been here before: waiting in the face of rampant terror, exaggerating the power of regimes engaged in mass murder when deterrent power would have put an end to their barbarism. In the Obama world, the tendency to wait has become official policy: It is either boots on the ground or head in the sand. Where drones and Navy SEALs can't do the trick, we leave the world untended.

The only people I can see , being called rebels, are the same bearded ones and veiled ones seen protesting in Egypt and Lybia.
Assad is right when he call them terrorists,they are Islamists wanting to over throw the regime for an islamic dictatorship.
It is strange to hear the West,I am living in sweden,wanting to support the rebels. They wish for a country led by the koran not by our democratic values-
Let them fight each others,nothing to do with America or the west. Let sunny and sh.it fight each others.
Kosovo. Isn’t that the place where the friendly neighborhood muslim terrorists burnt down all the Christian churches? Where the drugs flow through unimpeded and guarded by the kla? THAT Kosovo?
Seems to me they couldn’t have made a better argument for why we should stay the hell out of Syria.

Barak Obama couldn’t stand up to the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. What’s he gonna do? Bow and offer contraceptives?
Most everything Obama does ends in failure.
Barack Obama confront someone who has any amount of power? Hahahahahahahahah! He hasn’t the stones for it. Maybe even literally.
Clinton response to Kosovo was based on Monica and only Monica
Kosovo - isn't that where we sent American troops for almost a decade? Isn’t the nation that we bombed for a couple of years? Isn't that the nation that swallowed up Bill Clinton's “Peace Dividend”?
When you say the Kosovo model, do you mean:
1) Obama should talk big and blustery and threaten Assad until Assad basically says, “Put up or shut-up!”
2) Obama should start bombing unknown people and cities without thinking about the abject failure of those options unless we also have ground forces committed to the fight?
3) Obama should start a foreign war to take the heat off of his domestic and personal failures?
I mean, there are so many options from which to choose!
Oh yeah, let’s take advice from the New World Order (Council on Foreign Relations, etc.) neocon muslim fifth columnist Fouad Ajaimi!!!!

clinton’s “Kosovo War” was the event in which America lost her soul. We’ve been going from bad to worse ever since—9/11, endless war, financial meltdown, increasing dhimmitude and islamic infiltration, and the election of the muslim communist Barack Hussein obama, whose goal is to destroy American civilization from within, just like the muslim Brotherhood!!!!
If we intervene in Syria, islamists take over, and Orthodox Christians die!!!! Just like in Kosovo! Let’s reverse course and support Serbia, DUMP the muslims (including Ajami and obama), and stop doing damage to both ourselves and world Christianity!!!!
Unfortunately, when you look at primary voter turnouts e.g. Florida, it appears that Obama will not fail this November and will be re-elected for four more years.
