Ron Barber, an aide to former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), will run for the House seat she just left. Barber, 66, was Giffords district director until she retired last month. He was shot twice, once in the face and once in the leg, in the massacre that left six dead and nearly killed his boss. Our community needs someone who will put politics aside and solve problems for the people of Southern Arizona, he said in a statement. My commitment is to be honest with the people of this district and help restore civility to our public life. The special election for Giffords seat will take place on June 12. Barbers announcement left unclear whether he is planning to run for the seat again in the fall or is merely serving as a placeholder, as some news organizations have reported.

The guy could be the anti-Christ and will win. Getting shot when you are a democrat guarantees a win.
The Sympathy Vote.
Yeah, that’ll work.

Oh, it will work.
Liberals base everything they do on their feelings.
And the will guilt-trip their friends and relatives.
Does not matter if the guy is a collectivist-statist abortion-murder fanatic.
And did ya notice this....
My commitment is to be honest with the people of this district and help restore civility to our public life.
They are still trying to play the Blame Sarah Palin game.
Cool. He can ghoulishly exploit the rest of the wounded and the dead to get himself elected to a position for which he would otherwise not be considered qualified.
No sense in letting a crisis go to waste...
They couldn’t talk Giffords’ husband into running.
Rat clawing for power knows no limits.
There is more money doing the Sarah Brady thing...
Poor Giffords. She really should stay on in Congress. Since the shooting and the resulting brain damage...
she is more qualified than ever before.
My commitment is to be honest with the people of this district and help restore civility to our public life.
...especially when it comes to dealing with the Republitards...
No he is going to have to fight for the position just like everyone else. I don't know who is going to run against him but somebody will and the one who wins will have to have the most votes. This is not like the Governor picking somebody. He will have to campaign to win the election. I don't know the guy at all but he is not going to have an easy road. I don't think anyone does now adays with your entire past dissected.
he said in a statement. My commitment is to be honest with the people of this district and help restore civility to our public life.
My initial skepticism wanted to say doubtful on both counts right out of the box.
wasn’t there a federal judge, named roll, killed in that incident? don’t hear much about that for some reason...
Because that judge was a Republican.
He expects to be handed the seat because he was wounded. I hope he’s handily defeated by a Conservative.
Support Jesse Kelly. This is a pick-up seat for conservatives.
Send $25, $10, or whatever you can afford to him today.
