I think some degree of cynicality is right. Now that the GOP is bidding fair to nominate the Big Wall Street Guy backed up by an even Bigger Wall Street Guy, Obama does not want to trip up the process. He’d have a harder time with Newt than with Mitt. Mitt’s great at slinging masses of wild accusations, not so great at hitting the bulls eye except by chance.

Google says that Maher is 5'8" and Coulter is 6 feet tall. Maybe not quite enough of a disparity for that eating peanuts off the top of the head scenario...but close! :-)

Those are my thoughts also. The Dems spawned this evil brood in the belief that it would spur them to election victories in 2012. That is why the Press, and the Democrat leadership were gushing over these ne'er do wells, when this program first started. Now that it has turned out to alienate most of America, the Dems and their allies in the Media are trying to disown their progeny. Baloney.
I’ve been saying all along that OWS was not a good thing for Obama (regardless of who was engineering the protests). These will hurt him badly in November, because they keep the focus on our miserable job market and general decline in our standard of living.
