ORLANDO, Florida - Newt Gingrich's campaign announced Tuesday it raised $5 million dollars in January on top of the $10 million raised last quarter, however aides would not indicate how much cash the campaign has on hand -- a critical number for determining whether they can make it through the summer as the former speaker has pledged to do.
This weekend the candidate told Bloomberg News that his campaign was down to approximately $600,000 cash on hand and spending money as quickly as they get it. Since then spokesman R.C. Hammond has said the candidate misspoke and the $600,000 was referring to the amount the campaign had entering the South Carolina primary and they have since raised $2.5 million in money bombs.
However, when pressed, Hammond was unwilling to give a figure for how much cash they have right now.
Gingrich dropped by a polling station at First Baptist Church of Windermere for his first stop on primary day, shaking hands with voters and swarmed by cameras. Mitt Romney has taken a double digit lead in polls leading up to Tuesday but Gingrich told reporter he didn't expect to "lose big" here.
That's what I used to think, until this (confirmed BTW by ex-LDS and authoritative Freepers on LDS on thread)...
Mitt and the White Horse Prophecy (posted at FR)
I don't think that is true. Just because a person becomes a Catholic does not mean they put the Pope ahead of the County.
In fact, a dear friend of mine who is a devout Catholic thinks the Pope may be the AntiChrist.;-)
Newt is a patriot...opinions to the contrary are bullsh!t!
That's a lie and stop smearing the Pope!
And, if I understand it correctly, he REALLY takes orders from the Prophet (the Current Prophet, that is). He has taken sacred vows to do so and if he were to violate his vows...he would be rejecting his "church."
There are some serious authorities on LDS here at FR (some of which are ex-Mormons). LDS prophetic goals are a really big deal. A takeover of America is a really big deal to them!
Or so I have been told recently.;-)
I am just a lowly peasant...trying to spread the truth as I humbly know it.
I'm not sure if I'm offended because I'm Catholic, Italian, a Gingrich supporter or all three.
Did Florida originally have 100 delegates? I thought the GOP took half of their delegates away.
I see you don’t like Catholics
The same thing was said of Kennedy and it was BS then too.
He’s sure managed to bury the religion questions during this campaign, unlike in ‘08.
Guaranteed it won’t stay buried if he’s the nominee.
Hiding a big part of oneself in the closet makes one into a cardboard figure...like Romney.
That is my understanding.
That makes sense. He’s cardboard.
I have no explanation for his hate and lies. He’s just like obama. I will never vote for him.
This is the first time I have said it out loud...but, me too...I will never vote for Romney!
Right. He can GTH and take the GOP with him.
GO TEA PARTY!
Go NEWT!
Georgia has more delegates than Florida.
We’ll see if Fox or Gingrich are right here in an hour or so, won’t we?
What do you expect Newt to say? You gotta stay positive, even if you are losing. Otherwise, you might as well quit.
You do realize that the current President of Italy (Napolitano) is an atheist, btw.
In case you're wondering, I'm supporting the ONLY candidate willing to restore limited government, without partiality to one's personal confession.
Isn't that illegal?
I just listened to Romney's speech and I am sick!! We must
push on and not give up. Romney has no
chance against Obama and I have said I will never vote
for Romney and I haven't changed my mind.
This is the comment you made that I was replying to. Looks like your original Post was deleted by the Mods.
Apparently you believe that Newt thinks the Pope supersedes the Constitutional principles of the Founders. I have no idea where you get that from and your reply to me made no sense.
Vote Ron Paul if you like, but it just means another term for Obama and the end of the United States as we know it. At least you will have some great stories for the “What if Ron Paul Won” annual barbecue and tin hat beauty contest.
If memory serves, the character Clemenza was a Catholic, not a good Catholic, but a Catholic nonetheless. Might be time to change your handle to something less ethnic.
