Just one more note. Romney is an extraordinarily devout Mormon and a powerful figure within his "church" (his ancestors were there at the beginning...the Pratts, for example) If he were a Catholic, he would be a Cardinal.

And, if I understand it correctly, he REALLY takes orders from the Prophet (the Current Prophet, that is). He has taken sacred vows to do so and if he were to violate his vows...he would be rejecting his "church."

There are some serious authorities on LDS here at FR (some of which are ex-Mormons). LDS prophetic goals are a really big deal. A takeover of America is a really big deal to them!

Or so I have been told recently.;-)

I am just a lowly peasant...trying to spread the truth as I humbly know it.

He’s sure managed to bury the religion questions during this campaign, unlike in ‘08.

Guaranteed it won’t stay buried if he’s the nominee.

What everybody is missing is the fact that Mormonism is a theocracy (just like a certain other false “religion” - remember, Joseph Smith referred to himself as a second Mohammed).

A theocracy is a system where the religious power and the civil power are one and the same and where the state is run by the clergy and religious law is applied. That certainly describes Mormonism, which would be even more overtly theocratic had it not been forced to back off and accept US law in order for Utah to become a state.

The last thing we need is another person in the White House or even on the campaign trial who doesn’t accept US law and believes that he is divinely ordained to “rule over” us.
