Blood Money of Mitt Romney (Video)
Winning our future back ^ | 1/26/12 | Winning our future back

Posted on 01/27/2012 1:19:33 PM PST by OPS4

Debating in Tampa, Florida in late-January, while falsely characterizing Newt Gingrich’s income from his government consulting work, Mitt Romney denied that Bain did “any work with the government like Medicaid and Medicare”. Now we learn that Bain, under Romney’s “supervision”, purchased and ran the Damon Corporation, who pled guilty to Federal conspiracy charges as a result of tens of millions of dollars in systemic Medicare fraud committed under Romney’s and Bain’s control. Damon was fined over $119-million which was, at the time, the largest criminal healthcare fine in Massachusetts history and Mr. Romney’s participation was characterized in 1996 by Corporate Crime Reporter thusly: “As manager and board member of Damon Corp, Mitt Romney sits at the center of one of the top 15 corporate crimes of the 1990’s.” Watch the substantiated mini-documentary, BLOOD MONEY: MITT ROMNEY’S MEDICARE SCANDAL, to learn the truth about Mitt Romney.

Mitt Romney involved in Medicare Fraud
In 1990 Bain Capital purchased the controlling interest in Damon Corp. a Medical Testing Company…. Mitt Romney joined the Board of Damon Corp. to help manage the Company…… two whistle blowers tipped off the government and Medicare Fraud Charges were brought against Damon Corp. In 1996 Damon Corp Plead Guilty to Frauding Medicare, they were fined $35,273,141.00 as a criminal fine in addition to $83,726,859.00 to resolve related liabilities.. Total Fines 119 Million Dollars.

This represented a recovery of $3 for every $1 that they Stole from Federal and State Healthcare Programs…The U.S. Attorney who prosecuted the case is quoted as saying “A case pure and simple of Corporate Greed Run Amok”. The Company went Bankrupt in 2002, thousands of jobs were lost. Bain walk away with a Profit of 12 Million Dollars. Companies close all the time, what’s at stake are the crimes, not job losses.

At one point Romney denied knowledge of the crimes and later yes he flip flopped to say he was aware and on top of the problem. Serial flip flopper, sure and then some. This story is important because the Obamabots have instant access to all medicare and justice records as well the Obama administration has been playing fast and loose with facts that help Obama. Feds say Romney did not help uncover the investigation and that Corning later bought the company and cleaned up the mess. Dems used medicare crimes (Columbia HCA) against in the Florida election against Rick Scott for Governor…….it was ugly but it will be small in comparison to 2012.

The most amazing thing about this video is that I just got pointed to it by an email from jewishsouthflorida.com. (I'm on their email lists for reasons not clear to me other that I am Jewish.) From the bottom of that email, it would appear that they got pointed to the video by The J Media Group out of LA.

I’m surprised Newt didn’t have this at the debate.

I'm not a Romney fan, but there are several unmentioned issues raised with this video supposedly produced by Newt Gingrich's PAC.

(1) Medicare is depicted at the beginning of this film as an object of sanctity almost to be worshiped as a god. So any hint of Medicare fraud becomes - in the mind of the gullible - the most heinous crime to be imagined, and Romney is to be thought of the most vile criminal on the planet. Sanctifying Medicare, including the false mention of President Eisenhower as a champion of the concept, is a thinly veiled political ploy pandering to the emotional heartstrings of senior Republicans with fond memories of Ike. That appeal is enhanced by images of later GOP presidents.

(2) Laboratories like Damon could not order medical tests and bill Medicare for their allegedly unnecessary services without authorization from a patient's attending physician(s), contrary to what the video's narrator says.

(3) The government case against Damon was brought in 1993, the first year of the Clinton Administration, the first year the 'Rats held the executive branch of the federal government after a twelve year absence from the White House. Could it have been politically motivated, at least in part? Turns out that many physicians and health care professionals have been targeted unjustly over the years by the federal government for alleged Medicare fraud. On some cases, it seems like a revival of the Spanish Inquisition. The courts have been almost invariably sympathetic the federal government in this type of case.

(4) The entire tone of the film is such that the viewer could easily suspect that the current Obama administration may have been involved in the production. It ends in a plea to report suspected Medicare fraud to a government web site, and includes clips from leftist MSM sources, the same MSM that Gingrich justifiably denounced to score valuable debating points last week. Could this be a Gingrich-Obama collaborative effort?

(5) Although the film insinuates that Romney personally was involved in the alleged fraud at Damon, there is no direct evidence to that effect. As the CEO of Bain, one doubts that he would have any direct knowledge of the day-to-day operations of Damon, and there were many employees at Damon who would be possible suspects in any fraud scheme that might have occurred. Yet there is no mention in the film of any specific Damon company employees who were found guilty of fraud charges and sentenced.

Again, I'm not supporting Romney, merely suggesting that there could be quite a bit of false or misleading material in this short video.

I doubt Gingrich had direct input into the creation of this video. Once thing, it is damn difficult to be accurate 100% of the time, and some things, like (1), are subjective.

For me, I don’t have a TV so I’m not affected by this advertising. My looking over their records and what they’ve supported in the past, and whether what they say today matches well with their deeds in the past, is what I rely on to make my decision.

I know that Gingrich would make a fine President, and Romney would make an awful one.

I doubt if Gingrich had direct input into the creation of this video.

I agree. If he did, I believe he'd be in violation of the law, where, as I understand it, a candidate's campaign organization can't be in communication with their "super PACs."

BTW, I also agree that Gingrich would be a better president than Romney. But a candidate gains credibility when he attacks his opponent accurately, and conversely loses credibility when he makes false or misleading statements. And, unfortunately, with this "super PAC" system in effect now, a candidate can be politically tarnished by an error made by the "super PAC" just as if he himself were directly responsible.

The thought has occurred to me that Romney has the money to create a lot of mischief in other candidate’s SuperPACs.

I strongly suspect the reason he is the RNCs candidate is that he has given them money, period.

Forbes and Newsmax have news articles on this, and according to the Boston Globe which was cited per Newsmax, Romney supposedly knew about the fraud while Bain still owned the company, and yet never contacted the appropriate authorities. Secondly, per the Forbes article, Romney said (when running for Governor) that he knew about it, tried to do something, and somehow yet knew nothing about it.

Both articles are on listed on Front Page News here.

Good grief!! Our country is on a dangerous decline and these two nincompoops are resorting to this kind of stupidity.

I'm sick of both of them. I want real substance. What are they going to do to save our country? I am to the point, I couldn't care less which one of our Rs win this nomination--even Paul.
